s21 ultra laggy with Nova Launcher

I'm also using s21 ultra on nova7 latest beta. And the problem still persist. When I close an app and go to home screen and click on another app to open, their is a lag/delay.

That's discouraging. But thank you for letting me know. Only on my s21 ultra do I notice this issue. My one plus 8t, Huawei Mate 20 pro, and even Samsung Tab S6+ do not have the lag. Weird

It's like everyone said, it is something with Android since version 10. I posted the exact same thread about nova on my s20 plus. It happens randomly and sometimes everytime I close an app, other times I can go to home screen a dozen times and it doesn't need the refresh.
I've since gotten a pixel, it also did it with nova. Started using lawn chair 2 because I kind of liked the pixel layout. And I get the same homescreen refresh delay. Now I have a vanilla s21, running lawn chair 2, and same thing. Some people probably don't notice it but are actually having the "issue". I swipe to homescreen and my icons are there but aren't clickable for a second until it does its refresh, which is noticable the screen flashes.

I have the S21 Ultra and use gestures and the latest Nova Beta. The delay is only there when you use gestures. I can't go back to using the button nav bar. So I have learned to deal on it. I just wait an extra second after returning to the home screen to click a new app. If you normally wait to click a new app, then you won't notice it. Which is why some people say it works fine and they don't have the issue on their 3rd party launcher. The stock one UI launcher is smoother but I have gotten used to using Nova that I can't go back to stock.

I always use the navigation bar with Nova and no issues at all so far. I am half tempted to try one ui again some day it's better then nova.

I switched back to the 3 button nav bar and am slowly getting used to using it again. The only thing I miss is the swipe to go back. It's way more consistent than gestures, especially with a case on my phone.

I am so confused after reading all of this. Using a new Ultra 21. What benefit do I gain using something like Nova Launcher?

I find the s21 identical to my note 20 just a tad faster and I have tried a few new launchers and stayed with Nova.

Did I read correctly that installing Nova Launcher can take hours to set up? Was reading a review on a publication that really did like this product but one of the cons it listed was the time it takes to set up.

Just depends on how deep into the weeds you want to get with details & customization.... Start basic and then screw around with it over time, it evolves for me a bit over time, with new devices, etc
