s21 ultra laggy with Nova Launcher

I actually just switched back to using the stock launcher for the first time in many many years of usinig nova and lawnchair 2. In fact I had to completely learn one UI since I always put on nova asap and I've never even used one ui. But I switched to it solely because of the refresh issue when closing apps in 3rd party launchers. One UI sure is smooth and definitely solves the problem.
I don't like that you can't use themes on the tablets though. I have a tab s7 and always liked to keep it looking like my phone but now I can't. I have no idea why samsung wouldn't allow themes on their tablets. First world problems.

I actually turned off gestures and went back to a 3 button nav bar. Nova is too important to me. I can get used to using the 3 buttons more than the stock launcher.
Last question on Nova Launcher. (I hope). I am what you might an old guy. One not very patient with technology. So why do I have the Galaxy 21 Ultra? I love taking photos and wanted to try out this camera and so far I am not disappointed. But the overall phone is just so so and I was wondering if Nova Launcher will improve things for someone not very patient trying to learn new things. So is this a bad idea for me?

Nova is fir users that more customization then the stock launcher so in your case you probably dont need it .

Yeah most likely , but if you like more customization then definitely the launcher to use .

It is amazing that some people here use gesture and don't notice the Android bug....
I don't even know what to say about that.
Anyway, there is an app on play store, by Samsung, called "onehand opetaion plus."
It let's you have swipe from sides to perform BACK action.
Try it. It is what toy want.
In combination with the 3 button up swipe gesture mode, it is the best till th flicker bug is fixed.

I have issues using 3rd-party launchers, namely Nova, (any version), on Galaxy S20 / S21 on Android 10+/
Just as described earlier in this thread.
- Enable Nova
- Enable Android Gestures (swipe from bottom for home/assitant, swipe from sides for back, swipe bottom to the sides to switch between apps)
- Try to use the phone, after certain swipes, the UI flickers and is unresponsive for a moment until it is re-drawn.
To Workaround this annoying bug, specifically on One UI 3.0, I enabled using 3 swipe up buttons mode, but then I really miss the swipe from sides to go back.
To work around the lack of back gesture, I installed OneHand plus operation.

I did have that flicker early on in Android 10 when it came out but over updates and android 11 it didn't happen anymore but I'm also using Nova 7 beta

It did work, and I don't see the flicker.
Uploading a vid to youtube now, I had to try like 5 times till it flickered, but usually it happens more.
