@runfar262:

i'm glad you are successful in doing this early on! great!

now, you have less to take care of on the actual ordering day. the less to fuss with on that ordering day, the better! their website will be overwhelmed and slow already! you don't need more stress!!!
If I get to the checkout and have it crash and have to start the order again from scratch less than five times, I will consider it a win.

Yeah, none of us need the Samsung site ordering stress!
omg! the ordering stress has always been terrible!

things crash, would not complete the order, spinning circles that never move on to the next step, etc etc

why in the world can't they even have a working website for these situations? they know it's bound to happen year after year, right? so incompetent, these web designers or hosting companies!

It's definitely an exhausting ordeal. I experienced all those things you described when I ordered my s22U. I kept losing everything in my cart & would have to start over. Each time one more of the accessory items I had chosen was sold out. I finally just opted to only purchase the phone. I don't remember how many hours it took, but I was so relieved.

Then my husband walked into the room & said, 'I changed my mind, I want one too!'
😳
I had to do it all again....

omg, twice for you!

i wonder if they've finally fixed their site? you'd think so, right?

it's been year after year. maybe we shouldn't hold out hope for them having fixed it this year!!! after all, if they don't bother fixing it for so many years already, why would they have fixed it now? there's nothing special about 2023 vs 2022 vs ...

Yeah, I don't think we'd be that lucky that things have changed! The most I can hope for is that it won't be worse. Atleast, my husband doesn't want a new device this year ... yet.
☺️

Were you expecting some upgrades? they've basically been releasing the same phone for 4 years lol. That aside, upgrading year on year is never the smart move.
objectively difficult to argue with this at all. that's why I'm waffling about making the move, or keeping my perfectly good S22U (which I already have set up the way I like lol)

For the record though, I am planning to side grade from the S23U to the S24U lol. I'm just not a fan of justifications and tricking oneself into believing hype just because you want something new and shiny. Wantingh something new and shiny is fine, but ya gotta own it.

You ca use Smart Switch to make an encrypted copy of your S22U and restore it on a new s24U and it will be exactly the same. All settings software and all. You can even backup to an external thumb drive to make things go faster. Then all you have to do is insert the sim card.

Darn it.

This chart someone posted doesn't make me feel so smart about upgrading :(View attachment 358714
well, not exactly.

Reason: every new phone has newer firmware which should make it that much more difficult for malware to cause damage. of course, months later, the bad guys would have caught up and they'd be able to cause damage to newer firmware. still, if one were to upgrade every single year, it would mean that it's the best one can do to help prevent malware attacks.

so here's a genuinely good reason to update annually!

That's one of those justifications I was talking about. It was true a decade ago, but last year my S21 Ultra was updated to the most current software and security patch before my preordered S23 Ultra even left the warehouse lol.

Exactly. Upgrading yearly is minimal upgrade at best. The last few years for all makes of phones are minimal upgrades, yearly upgrades is basically a want. As you said, just say you wanted the new shiny toy and stop trying to justify the small updates as a need... Just say you wanted it, that's the only justification you need.

For me I'm on the fence of upgrading. Main reason is it's a good way to get rid of a iPhone and keep my back up phones up to date. It will boil down to the trade in amount for iPhone 14 pro Max.

I just want the flat screen! Everything else that is new, or "better" is icing on the cake!
I used to be a big fan of the curved screen because of the edge panel and I think the curved screens look better. After using a iPhone and the fold phones I've discovered the edge panels work fine on the flat screen. With that knowledge and the fact screen protectors will work better on the flat screen I'm kind of excited for the flat screen if that leak is true.

iOS has an Edge Panel?
