Samsung working on camera fix

Yikes! Just my luck the first time I bought an unlocked phone!
Depends last couple of security updates on the Note 10 unlocked model got first. We will have to see how it'll work got Ultra and hopefully they have changed the trend. We will know after couple of updates.

Unlocked usually gets the update last in the U.S., after all carriers release there versions, but that could be different for this.

That's not true anymore. I know it used to be that way, but Samsung has stepped up their game lately.

I agree, with the Note 10+ the unlocked ones were going first, but that has only been a few months. I was just saying usually, because that is how it has been the last few years. Hopefully it has changed, just don't know for sure so was trying to be safe.

The camera issues are real, and very annoying. I took a video of my son and the phone spent nearly 40% of the video trying to refocus.

Pictures are ok with facial smoothing, I actually have more problems with the color. It takes the ambient color quite a bit and applies to face. In my house, this makes everyone's skin look significantly orange.

The phone was, according to Samsung, designed entirely around the camera. I'm not sure they succeeded here in making this work really well. With this much hardware power behind the camera, at $1400, the pictures and video should have beat the iPhone and Pixel without question.

Right now, it is sitting at a solid #3, which is the exact same position they were last year. Arguably, the S10 is taking better pictures some of the time.

This is a known issue.

Forward to the 5min 30sec mark in the CNET video below. Most review videos I've seen have mentioned this issue. Again MKBHT has mentioned it probably be due to the "razor thin plane of focus" with the camera. Forward to the 10min mark and the 12min mark in the MKBHD video.

You're gonna just have to wait on the software update to hopefully fix it.

People here complain about Samsung’s overprocessing and over smoothing or whatever they call it to peoples faces... I think your wrong saying it make people look “older” than they are... more like they make them look more their “true age”... where Samsung gets rid of those lines and make them look 5 to 10 years younger than they are, complexion clearer than they are and a touch on the glam side than they are lol. And I bet the majority of Samsung owners like that their pics are more “usable” on their social media and even though they hear the criticism from hardcore camera critics, Samsung likes it that way and keeps it that way... along with liking to lean on the over saturated because their customers like that look. Not really sure if they will change that part of their cameras.

I do agree with you I think iPhone takes the best pics. My feeling is that they just consistently get the good shot the first time around compared to Samsung where I feel I have to take multiple shots at the moment to find a good shot. If there is an important shot to take and the wife or daughter is around, I’ll at times tell them to take it with their iPhone over using my Note 8 to not lose it.

Funny or ironically, when I got away from film, I liked the fact that digital allowed you to waste shots to get a potentially great one and you can delete what you don't like.

Unlocked Note20+ on hasn't been late on Verizon Note 10+. I received the March update as soon as I took it out of the box on March 3rd.

Does having a locked vs unlocked phone make a difference on the same carrier? Say me and my friend both have a S20 and both of us have AT&T as a carrier but I have a unlocked phone and he has a AT&T branded one, do we get the update at the same time or does the unlocked phone get updated from Samsung and the carrier model get updated from the carrier separately?
I think a bigger concern is whether or not you get WiFi calling if you need it.

It's possible the March update was already pending for all devices on release week. I guess we'll have to see how it goes going forward.

The one you got out of the box is not the update for the camera people are waiting for. There is still one coming. It has been released in South Korea, but has not been released anywhere else as of yet.

Yes, we know that's not what I was replying about. Read above.

Problem is when you take those multiple shots (because you are not sure you're gonna get the shot you want the first time) the odds are you still might only get a keeper 1in3 or 1in4. In the meantime the person next to you (in this case my wife or daughter or kid sis with a combo of iPhone XS or 11 Pro's) take the same shot(s) and it always seems to happen that they have the better shot than you.

Outdoors, like when I was shooting pics on the beach in St. Petersburg, FL this past Tuesday and the sun was bright and the sky a perfect blue... no one can touch my Note 8 with outdoor pics. It's indoors and not so perfect lighting my Note is always questionable.

I don't mind multiple shots. I like multiple shots. But it is more out of necessity of getting a good one in the bunch than because I have multiple good ones to choose from.

I had to add a pic I took of the Mattahorn last year. One of the best pics my Note has ever taken. But more I think about it, indoor pics are always a struggle. That's why next phone, I want the best camera I can get.

Pixel doesn't filter your face. Shows as it is. Try taking picture of hair follicle with Samsung. You'll get blur
Are your. selfies coming out different than your preview? Mine look the same before or after I take the shot.

I was getting timely updates on the S20+ and the Note10+

Samsung seems to have upped it's game.
