A redditor tonight echoes the same sentiment, as he says he's talked with someone inside the Samsung Mobile division and the trade-in value for the S23 Ultra is slated to be $600.

With Rakuten the biggest discount usually happens not on the very first day of preorders, but two-three days after preorders started. Just my observation. It can go up to 15% sometimes.
I just looked Rakuten is 12% right now. And I remember when we got our watch 6's not too long ago it was 12% and my husband ordered a few hours later and it was 15 it was weird. So I don't know now when to order but I guess I'll do it as soon as I can before I go to work cause he may change his mind again. And several videos I watched say it's 1250. I was really hoping 1199 and that you could use the extra 50 off the phone.

I want to shop Samsung and it said thank you for reserving and my husband's didn't so I re reserved I'm glad you checked cuz I could have typoed on his email when I did it before. Yes somebody on a YouTube video comment said the up to 750 email meant 750 for the ultra which works be so great but I'm not counting on it.

Yes, I have used PayPal. I never have used the financing.

I did notice that in the past that PayPal charges went straight to my credit card immediately, where as, purchasing direct from Samsung, my credit card wasn't charged until just before shipping. There was an initial pending charge on the card, but it didn't actually post until Samsung was preparing to ship.
Well we're just going to go through Samsung and just use our credit card like normal. We activated a promotion spend a 1000 get a $100 in points .

If it's only $600 I'm not buying it. I was kind of hoping Samsung would boost the trade in amounts up since they slipped in sales a lot and apple tool the lead for sale numbers in 2023.
I know! I finally talked my husband into us getting them and if it's only 600 he'll probably change his mind again. But I did tell him I really wanted to do this so we'll see. We have a cruise next month for our 10 year anniversary middle of Feb and I hope to have phones by then.

But yes $600 seems to low and we never care about accessories. But I did read that one time they let the fold and flip people use an extra 50 but no one's confirmed it and that we might be able to do that too but I doubt it.

I also got the Rakuten12% off on my S23+ 256GB Samsung direct order. Phone ended up ~$655 total, tax included

ladies and gentlemen:

the poll for whether @mustang7757 should pre-order the S24 Ultra, just like the rest of us, is up at the top of this thread's page. kind of not the easiest place for people to see.

kindly scroll up and vote ("yes!") ;)
I think Mustang should spend his money however he sees fit, spouse not withstanding. If he wants the phone he should buy it, if he doesn't want it he should not.

I got an email from c-net and their is a Video that says CES Keynotes 2024 and it's an hour long and it's playing is this different. Was their not just a show in Vegas? I'm pretty sure that's probably what this is. I have to work at 2 pm and it starts here at 1pm our time which is when I usually leave for work so I may leave early and sit in the break room from 1-2. Do you really think waiting a cuple days won't matter and that Rakuten will go up from 12-15. I don't know I think I'll just order it today and get it over with. But if we're only getting $600 that's awful. I remember not having any interest in the 22U only wanted to go from 21 to 23 but so far down the line it was a $1000 trade in we did it. I mean I'd rather get more for our phone and no freebies.

I'm hoping sometime during the event they will start the preorder. I have something on my work calendar 2-3 that I can't get out of and I'm going to be stir crazy wanting it to be over with

Well on their website it says get up to $750 off for a Z Fold 5 so I am sure for the 23U it probably will be only 600 that will suck. They always offer more on the Fold since it cost more. I wonder how long the event will last I can only watch from 1 to 2 but all I care about really is price and trade in value.

If I remember correctly the fold 4 and S22U had the same trade-in value last year not sure though

Well you can trade in your 23U and get $750 to buy a fold I am sure won't get that much for our 23U to buy the 24U. I bet it's $600 like everyone is saying. I shouldn't even watch LOL!

samsung.com's website is weird: you'd think they would widely tout their unpacked event now that it's merely 25 minutes away but strangely, it only has "reserve now" showing. no tile or button to "watch the unpacked event here". strange.

If you click on the explore or whatever it says it will take you to a countdown screen with a flash player thing but I'm guessing will convert to video once the event begins. It's also live on YouTube right now, but it's still a bunch of promo stuff showing at the moment, giving little hints and suggestions for what's coming

I generally go with the TWiT coverage. Gonna be odd with no Jason Howell(sp?).

They're updating the site. S24U isn't there yet, but here's trade in values as shown for S24+
