S3- charging problems. Recognising being plugged in but not holding any charge.

[AC Question]

So I've had my S3 for months now without any problems. Today I plugged my phone into charge and after a couple of hours noticed the charge had actually dropped. But I checked the little battery symbol in the notifcation bar which tells me that the phone is in fact charging. The little lightening symbol is there and everytime I unplug/plug in the charger my screen wakes up.
Does anyone know why my phone isn't holding any charge?
