S4 AT&T Charging Question

Hello,

Been using my S4 for about two weeks and noticed an annoying issue when using my car charger + 1 stock Samsung included micro usb cable & one cheap cable I got off amazon. While plugged into my car charger with GPS on and using the stock cable, I noticed that my battery actually charges and usually at the end of a trip I'm left with a higher charge % than when I started. However, when I use the cheap generic cable the charge % drops slowly over the course of the trip. Of course I was plugged into the non-apple side of the charger (non-data), all other variables were kept the same when I tested between the two cables.

Should I be using a different cable to replicate the charging performance I am getting with the official Samsung cable? Any advice on brands, spec's?
