S4 build quality

The build quality of this thing doesn't seem that impressive. The silver plastic trim is scratching up and cracking in places. To be fair it took some abuse yesterday but it was in a case (thrown against the beer bed in frustration, but I made sure it hits nothing hard on the rebound or on the way). Question is why can a £50 Nokia, £50 Tocco Lite and MP3 and a £30 Xbox controller take repeated dropping and throwing (Nokia even landed in the road) and be fine, but a £600 phone that appears to be made of cheese can't

Its a Samsung, what's new? For the silver trim cracking, that's not the case for me. I do have some scuffs around the edge if my phone. Its holding up pretty well for the fragile plastic phone everyone makes it out to be.
