S5 over iPhone 6

They just did that update. Before that, it was about a year. The iOS version has 2-3 updates in that time. It's not Androids fault. chase keeps a record on who dl it's app the most.

Version 3.17 was June 11th and version 3.18 was September 3rd. Yep been a year or more since updates.

I must say the build quality in this new iPhone 6 is amazing. I held it in hand at the verizon store and it's just amazing. No creacks when gripping hard, nothing. By comparison, my S5 is an poor attempt at quality with all the plastics creaking together. Really hope the S6 will be metal...

If the S6 goes metal, count me out. Metal is slippery, easily damaged, heavier, and interferes with antenna performance. Stupid material to be building phones out of. Almost as stupid as glass. It's one of the reasons I didn't go with an M8. Soft touch plastic is about 10X more practical. And I haven't noticed any creaking on my S5.

I just don't understand the current infatuation with metal. Do you actually use your phone or just fondle it?

I had a chance to check out a co-workers iPhone 6 (not the +) and it's a nice phone, 2 things jumped out to me though; 1) it is pretty darn thin and had a good feel to it shape wise 2) the body was not what I expected. When I talk about the body Apple has always been known for the elegant designs and in the latest models a more metal frame which to me had more of a quality/premium feel to it which justified the price (to me anyways). Anyways I messed around with it for a good 10 minutes or so and handed it back. I just switched from Apple to the S5 back in April and still glad I made the switch. Both phones are great, it comes down to the OS and which one you prefer. For me Apple has their OS too locked down, they want to control everything whereas with Android you can customize the phone to your hearts content and make it yours. People will mention that Apple is more secure because it's not open source (Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton would disagree) but I have yet to have any virus/malware issues with my phone nor any of my friends who have had Androids for a few years now.

I was thinking, I never really owned a iPhone, but did use one a few times. But I just bought a Mint condition S5 for $350. But the iPhone6+ is a bit more pricey. I have to get the 128GB version because it doesn't have a SD card slot yet. Now I hope it is everything everyone says it is. Maybe iPhone7 will have a SD slot and I can buy the 16GB version and save money.... BTW, I pay cash for my phones, so no contracts. No contracts mean lower monthly cost.

I would definitely keep my GS5!
The new iPhones don't have nothing that would make me get one of them.

iPhones will never have a sd card slot. Nor iPods or anything Apple.

I still visit iPhone websites even though I'm extremely happy with my S5; mainly because I'm a bit of a tech geek and like to be up to date on what's new. Anyways there are reports of iPhone 6+ owners stating that their phone is bending due to being placed in their pockets. Being that the iPhone 6 is thinner this shouldn't be too much of a surprise but now that it's thinner and bigger the structural integrity of the aluminum body may be affected much easier than previous models; something to consider if you are thinking of switching to the new iPhone. Given this could just be a bad batch but something to be aware of. On a funny side note they are saying Apple’s response will be “you’re sitting wrong” (reference to antenna issue a few years back where Apple’s lame response was “you’re holding it wrong” and ended up offering free iPhone cases).

Like I said, metal is a stupid material to build a cell phone out of. Seeing the same thing with laptops. Plastic is the only way to go for people with common sense.

I agree that the material should be plastic composite of some sort as it has more flex to it which is needed for the size of these devices but I'll admit I loved the solid feeling of my iPhone 4 & 5.

Phones don't bend in your pocket under normal use, the people "reporting" these catastrophe's are seeking attention.

Saying that plastic is the only way to go with no facts is ridiculous. I've had iPhones for many years and had zero issues with bending, signal, or anything else.

I have the GS5 now, I'm happy with the casing, I don't have any performance issue differences between this and the iPhone 5s.

My HTC One M8 is made of metal, dare anyone to bend it. LoL I like it, but I have a need to try a new phone every once in a while. That is why I bought the S5. Suppose to be delivered tomorrow.

Honestly, this sounds like a real issue, almost like antennagate.

You don't have tons of folks bending their phones simultaneously within a few days of launch if something isn't wrong. Pic related, lol.

Might be some recalls. Or maybe a rubber frame they give you to put it in lolololol.

Wow, guess I will mark the 6+ off my wishlist. Another reason to avoid Apples...

Yes! I just read that, their calling it #bentgate.

Compare the thickness and height, the two most important factors in this.

The m8 has the same height and a similar thickness. HTC seemed to understand adding a slight curve on the back adds strength, something the Romans figured out back in 100 AD.

It's poor engineering, plain and simple.

Oh, two phones with different designs behave differently? Wow, thanks , had no clue the htc phone was curved and thicker which makes bending not an issue.

Those idiots at Apple should have copied the design , they're so stupid all they care about is profits. You know you can buy a nexus 5 for less than the iPhone and it has better specs? This is highway robbery brother!

We need to educate those eye sheep people and get them on our side.

Well, if they had added maybe a single millimeter or two like HTC to a slight curve, iPhone6s wouldn't be bending in half after a few days of use.

And yes, different devices perform differently. As in Android devices perform better. While you may have been being facetious, you are absolutely correct.
