S5 won't play received text videos

My wife has an Iphone 6. She likes to send me periodic videos of my son throughout the day. I just upgraded from an Iphone to the S5 and now whenever she sends a video, when I try to play it I get a "Can't play video." message in the center of a black screen. Is there a way around this?

Yes - have her make the videos in standard mp4, not some other format that iPhone has a player for and your S5 doesn't.

I might as well give up for today then. She won't be able to figure that out on her own. I'll fix it when I get home. I also figured out that I can save them to my gallery and they'll play, but it sucks having to take that extra step.
