I disabled putting unused apps to sleep, added all the important apps on the no-sleep list. Nothing. Everything still restarts within 2 minutes of switching off it. I only keep like 3-4 apps open too. TikTok, discord, Whatsapp, and they restart. That is unusable. Is that normal?

Welcome to Android Central forums.
  • Check the "keep open" feature: Samsung's "keep open" feature is a way to prevent apps from closing when you switch away from them. To use it, open the app, then swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see your recent apps. Tap the app's icon, and then tap "Keep open" or the lock icon to lock it in place.
  • Clear app cache: Some apps might restart due to corrupted cache data. Try clearing the cache for each app to see if it helps. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > [App Name] > Storage > Clear cache.
  • Update Android and apps: Make sure your phone's operating system and all apps are up to date. Outdated software can have bugs that cause apps to crash or restart unexpectedly.
  • Check other battery settings: On Samsung devices, there are other power-saving features that can close apps in the background.
    • "Put unused apps to sleep": This is the setting you've already adjusted, but double-check to make sure it's off in Settings > Battery > Background usage limits.
    • "Deep sleep": This is an even more aggressive power-saving feature. If you have it enabled, you might want to turn it off for the apps you use frequently.
  • Restart your phone: A simple restart can often resolve temporary glitches and force the phone to refresh its memory.
  • Contact Samsung support: If none of the above solutions work, there may be a more complex issue with your device. You may need to contact Samsung support for further assistance.

Welcome to Android Central! When you say it's "unusable," do you mean that the phone slows down to a crawl when these apps open again in the background? Bear in mind that it's normal for apps to open in the background on Android, because the system is designed to keep RAM relatively full. This isn't Windows -- with Android, the old saying is "empty RAM is wasted RAM." See this article: https://www.androidcentral.com/ram-what-it-how-its-used-and-why-you-shouldnt-care
