I am possibly going to wait for the next trade in deal for the S23 ultra and trade my Pixel 7 Pro in and sell my Tab S8 after we get back from our trip to Punta Cana. I know I will use my tablet a lot on the plane. But apart from that I don't really take full advantage of the larger screen. And the 23 ultra can do everything the tab S8 can do.

I'm about 50/50 on the decision because I like having two devices. I can cast shows from my tablet while not occupying my phone.
Check Samsung. Com I think s23u has some deals as we speak

I can get the 512 gb for $26 a month with trading in my 7 Pro but I still owe money on it. We're leaving for vacation in 3 weeks so I don't want to get a new phone before then. I need to make a decision as to whether I can live without my tablet or not. I go back and forth with what I want to do. I guess we'll see how my 7 Pro handles being in the extreme heat and taking pictures and videos. I don't plan on using it a ton. Just for capturing some pictures and videos there.

I wonder how the S23+ compares to the Ultra? I'd almost go for the Plus if performance was equal to the Ultra. But I had a bad experience with the 22 plus last year. Battery life was not great and it had considerable shutter lag. But I absolutely loved the size and feel in my hand. My 7 Pro does take good photos indoors. Outdoors I'd say the 23 plus and 7 pro are equal or the differences are indistinguishable. Just my guess. My other concern is screen brightness in sunlight. Is the Plus good enough in sunlight?

I don't see any Samsung phone being bad in the sunlight and I would think the s 23 plus is better than the P7P in the sunlight

I don't think I would like the S23 plus as the camera doesn't have a macro mode. It has come in handy for looking at things close up that my eyes can't see. It's kind of a deal breaker for me that the Plus doesn't have it. The only thing I don't like about my 7 Pro is the overheating. I just have to be mindful of using it heavily outdoors or in direct sunlight.

Why does Samsung keep coming out with deals that tempt me into trying the S23 ultra? $200 off plus if I order a Verizon phone through Samsung Shop, I can select a down payment amount to lower the monthly payment as well as trade in my Pixel 7 pro for $440 in bill credits. Is this down payment option something new because I've never seen this before? Makes it intriguing and tempting. I still want to wait until we get back from our vacation to make a decision as I might sell my Tab S8 to pay down the phone purchase. This down payment option really makes a lot of sense for me and my current situation of having too much debt wrapped up in tech devices. But only if I were to sell my Tablet and only have one device, the S23 ultra. Which I don't mind as it would simplify my life and I could focus on just paying off one device.

I'm not too thrilled with Google's direction with hardware from the Pixel 8 rumors of possibly doing away with Macro mode and the Pixels run warmer than the SD processors. I do like a lot of the Pixel features. I rarely use them but they are somewhat useful when I have needed them.

I think if it weren't for the iphone's notch and dynamic island, I'd probably give iOS another chance but switching back and forth is not easy especially with me having a wear os watch that isn't compatible with iOS. I do love Apple hardware but the software is frustrating to use. I would have to find the deal of a lifetime to switch to iOS.

Well whatever you do better decide before iphone 15 comes out. They are predicting $200 price increases. Samsung lately just copies apple so be prepared in case they do. Their trade in amounts last year could be indicators. Wait to see what they do on the fold 5 could be a indicator also, but Samsung is pushing the folds now so the trade INS could be higher.

If you're going to go with a Verizon branded phone my guess you will always get a better deal at Verizon for trade in and both are going to come with 3 years of credits. I haven't looked but that's usually way it is. I go unlocked thru Samsung because then you get the trade in amount right away.

I went to iphone 14 pro max and I love the dynamic notification thing. I know Samsung had a third party app for that but it never worked as good as the iphone does for me.

More iphone users stick with their phones longer. Android users tend to upgrade sooner. I've thought, well maybe if I switched to iOS, I wouldn't have the same desire to switch more often. But I don't think that would happen to me. I gave iOS a fair shot when I had the 12 pro. But over time the os just started to annoy me more each day. Not even the lack of customization. I think the main thing is not being able to truly use third party apps and set them as default. To get the best out of iOS, it's best to use apple apps, maybe with the exception of Google maps vs Apple maps. I could never adopt to using them so I think that's what frustrated me. I tried backing up to Google Photos on iOS and they would never be able to automatically backup in the background. I'd have to open the app and leave it open until they finished uploading.

But going back to the main discussion, I do like the idea of being able to put a down payment on my phone when I finance it. I have never heard of that. I certainly haven't seen it on Verizons website or app. I'd definitely prefer to keep my tablet but I don't want to only buy the 8gb/256gb S23 ultra. 256 will fill up fast, especially on Samsung phones with all the extra apps and themes. So I'd definitely get the 512 version if I do get it. I just don't see myself going with the Pixel 8 or 9. I don't think I would be able to get this same kind of trade in deal if I were to wait for the S24.

200 off the s23 ultra right now on the shop samsung app. Not sure how long it will last. I got the 256GB phantom black for $250 after trading in my s22 ultra. You have to use the app though.

And the fact I can put a down payment on it for a Verizon phone is pretty cool. This should be an option for financing phones everywhere. There's not even an option on Verizon's website to do this if you buy through them. I guess there will always be deals on phones but it does seem right now is a good time to buy a Samsung phone.

The one thing that I'd love to change is the soc on the Pixel 7 pro. 8 Gen 2 would make this phone the best out there. The exynos processor in the Pixel 7 pro is not very energy efficient. It runs warmer and overheats quicker than the SD 8 Gen 2. So battery life and performance suffers as a result if you push it just a little bit by, you know, shooting videos or something that a phone in 2023 should be able to handle.

I can get the 512gb S23 ultra for $20/month from Best buy for Verizon trading in my Pixel 7 pro. Very tempting. But also being able to put a down payment on it through Samsung to lower my payment is attractive. But I would need to sell my Pixel 7 pro on Swappa first and use that as the the down payment. I'm just not sure I'd be able to match that payment amount selling it on my own. But I would be able to eliminate the bill credits.

I'm currently trying to decide if I want to just order the S23 ultra before I sell or pay off the Pixel 7 pro or the Tab S8 that I have. I'm leaning towards selling my Tab S8 on Swappa as that's the device I can get the most for. I'm trying to avoid financing through Verizon as I despise the idea of 36 months of bill credits. I only owe $175 on my Pixel and around $300 on my tablet.

Once I pay off both of those, I then have a choice of either trading it in and financing the ultra for 24 months or selling the Pixel 7 pro for a bigger down payment. I think buying through Samsung Shop and financing through Verizon is the only way to apply a down payment to it. I think if I finance through Samsung, it doesn't give me that option. If I do sell my Tab S8, I'm definitely going for the 512gb S23 ultra. If I were to keep my tablet, I'd likely finance the S23 ultra 256gb through Verizon.

I just looked on Samsung's website and I can trade in my Pixel 7 pro and get $1000 in credits from Verizon. This makes it only $5/ month for the S23 ultra 512gb. I think I'm going to jump on this deal. I'm also trying to sell my Tab S8. I posted it here and on Swappa and Offer up. I may post it on Facebook marketplace as well. This is the deal I've been waiting on to go to just using a phone.

Sure, it's a 3 year contract with Verizon for the phone, but I fully intend on keeping it for that long. Ideally I would have liked to buy it unlocked but I just can't see paying that much more for it unlocked. I also couldn't see keeping an S23 plus for 3 years, but the Ultra 512/12 can definitely last that long.

Do it ... I think it's an excellent phone and at the end of the time with the phone you still have a good trade-in value for it... And if you get it I have a 3-month-old UAG case I'll send it to you free of charge so you can enjoy the phone I think it's a solid device...

It turns out that the $1000 off is only for new lines of service. Which I'm not adding a line. I'm going to get it unlocked from Samsung instead. I'm hoping my Tab S8 sells before I have to make another payment on it. I have it listed in 4 different places.

I'm going to give my tablet a few days to see if it sells before I order it. And I need to talk to my wife about it trading in my Pixel. I already told her I'm selling the tablet.

I'd hoped to trade earlier in the year, but the deals were all carrier, which I didn't want as it would have meant changing from my (excellent) plan to get the added discount. Finally, they offered a Samsung trade in, and I just ordered the 23+ - with my educator discount and trading in my s20FE, it came
down to just over $700 which I can finance with them, and use their insurance. I prefer that to Tmo's insurance and being tied to their financing.

Now just hoping the trade in goes smoothly.....

I ordered the 512gb S23 ultra a few days ago and will be trading in my Pixel 7 pro for $807 paid for over 24 months from Samsung. I also sold and paid off several Samsung credit accounts as well as my Pixel 7 pro with the sale of the Tab S8. I still have one account left to pay on until March 2025. I'm so glad Samsung did away with 36 month financing. My S23 ultra should last a lot longer than my 7 Pro would have.
