Samsung devices keep flip-flopping between weaker 5g signal and stronger 2g signal

I just swapped out my Comcast provided gateway to a personal router (Asus)/modem (D-Link) combo. In so doing, my two Samsung devices (Galaxy S5 and Tab S) have refused to stay connected to the stronger 2G signal around the house and keep trying to connect to the weaker 5g signal.

I've disabled the Automatic Switching option to no avail. And, I do not have the option to pick which band to stay connected to. While my wife's iPhone 6 does not appear to be experiencing the same issues, so I am ruling out anything regarding the router/modem.

This is beyond frustrating. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you need the 5 GHz band? If not, you can probably disable that in the router's settings (which you typically access via a website -- see the router's manual to learn how).
