Samsung (direct from them): Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Just got an origin scan on mine a few minutes ago, its finally happening.

ups says its coming from ingram micro in plainfield indiana, i live in illinois about 3.5 hours away, the origin scan says the package is origin scan from kentucky, how the hell does that make sense

It seems as though the value Samsung places on you being a prior Note7 owner is $125. The maximum trade in value for phones if you didn't own a Note7 is $300, if you were a previous Note7 owner its $425. So at a minimum they should offer prior Note7 owners a minimum $125 for any used phone on their list and a maximum of $425. If you send in a GS5 as a trade you'll likely get less than the maximum value, if you send a GS7 edge+ you will get the full $425. Just saying!

As long as you have a phone on the list they posted, and it's in good condition, you get $425. Otherwise why would they credit you the full $425 up front?

The note 7 trade in was not variable like the normal trade in program, it was 425 for any of the phones eligible for trade including the older phones like the note 5 or iphone5.

Couldn't see the 9/7 delivery date until I did what delco714 did.
I called ups. They don't even have it in possession yet. I need it to stay at ups for pickup..so I had to call Samsung..waiting on call back..ups couldn't change the delivery at all said "ingrim" limited everything.

Your logic makes sense but the fine print says the minimum deduction you'll receive for a trade in is $25.

Though it sucks I am not surprised Samsung direct is slower to ship than everyone else from what I know of prior launches. The only reason I went direct is the note 7 trade in program. Picked up a note 5 to trade in and after I sell my S8+ I should about break even on the on upgrade or maybe even make money if I sell the 260 cam.

Still no update for me. Samsung still says Pre Order. I have heard a few are saying they are backordered. I placed my order from Samsung for a black unlocked model online around 9 AM on the 24th. Is it really possible mine could be backordered?

Waiting for Samsung to call me back.

You may be right, but I don't think this is correct. If Samsung has some sort of discretion to go from 125 to 425 then they are going to have a media firestorm on their hands. The deal was clearly offered as $425 provided it meets the conditions and is on the list. The $425 credit was applied to my balance at checkout immediately and I was only charged $525 for the phone. If Samsung starts taking money back (by lowering the trade in after giving $425 at checkout), people are going to be pissed and Ill be buying an iPhone.

Samsung says release date 15th....actual release date the 5th :p
Samsung should atleast give me an update on my order thats all I'm asking for really

That is understandable I just hate to be upset about getting something earlier than expected, but not earlier than everyone else. I will be annoyed ONLY if my phone ships on the 14th when my shipping day says the 21st but everyone else, including people who ordered after me, is getting theirs by the 14th. I would rather it either ship this week or 3 weeks from now.

Well you have me concerned. It does seem to say "max trade in value $425" and then it lists IPhone 5 and above. My understanding was so long as the phone was on the list and met the criteria (eg powers on, screen works, wiped) you would get the $425. If Samsung screws me on the trade, I guess it will be the last Samsung phone I buy. I wonder why they changed the prices on the Former Note 7 deal unless volume is too high?

It didn’t originally say max trade in. It just said
-$425 before. They changed the wording.

Well the thing is I'm a "Note 7 Customer" and I am technically supposed to receive it before the 15th because of the deal. I was told phones will start shipping by the 5th, and be received by the 7th. I will not be happy if I receive mine on the 15th

They apparently changed the wording on the trade-in offer for Note7 owners on August 14. The article on CNET says that its likely many people will get less than the full $425 trade in value. I don't think that Samsung thought this promotion through - they appear to be confused. Their lawyers probably got to them to change the language. Here's what the reporter from CNET has to say about this topic:
"You may not get the full $425 trade-in value
$425 is the maximum value you'll be able to get for the phone you've been using since returning your Note 7, not a blanket promise. That's because the value of devices varies. So say you've been using and entry-level Android phone when you returned your Note 7. That phone will fetch you less than the value of, say, a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge."
