Samsung (direct from them): Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

I think the $25 is for a non functioning phone or a phone that doesn't meet their criteria of being in good condition. The devil is in the details and Samsung has fine print that leaves the customer at their mercy of interpretation and they can essentially decide how to value your trade in. I hope Samsung honors the $425 deal uniformly or they'll have a media storm on their hands!

if they change the wording after a bunch of us placed the order with the 425 offer i would assume that would only apply to new orders, there will be a mutiny if sammy tries to screw us n7 ppl over after we place an order and they decide to change the terms for the trade in device. they should tread lightly and suck it up if they want note owners to be happy, then again corporate greed. im sure many ppl will contest the charge with cc companies and that would cause a ton of headache for samsung so i guess we will all find out here in a few days/weeks

I hope you're right and Samsung honors the $425 deal. CNET reporter seems to think otherwise. Google CNET Galaxy Note8 trade-in.

If they were going to change the value I'm not sure why they wouldn't have listed it like the normal trade in program with lesser values for older phones upfront.

The wording was changed on August 14 before any pre-orders could be placed. So technically they have the right to do that. However, there will be a public relations fiasco for Samsung if they don't honor their full $425 trade in offer that was credited at the point of order entry.

Still no update for me. Samsung still says Pre Order. I have heard a few are saying they are back ordered. I placed my order from Samsung for a black unlocked model online around 9 AM on the 24th. Is it really possible mine could be back ordered?

Waiting for Samsung to call me back.

Same boat as you. They called me back yesterday. Placed order on the 26th for the unlocked version. Original email said shipping date of 9/11. The chick at Samsung order fulfillment dept said unlocked models now have a ship date between today and Sept 25th. She went on with the scripted, "So sorry for any inconvenience."

Not happy.

I hope not! I ordered on the 26th and still have preorder on mine.

I'm pretty sure they will
They can't take $425 off and advertise it only for it not to be true...many lawsuits will follow probably

I read the CNET article and went back and read the Samsung Terms and Conditions. I immediately thought I had no idea where CNET got their information because those aren't the terms and conditions I agreed to when I ordered. The article was posted after I preordered. If Samsung doesn't give me $425 for my iPhone 5 as promised, that's fine. They will get the Note 8 back and I will be done with them. I suspect many on here will do the same. Total bait and switch and probably illegal.

Stop the confusion. The $425 offer is indeed a blanket offer. The condition the phone needs to be in is plainly stated. If said phone meets that, and is on the list provided, you will receive $425. I think you're causing a bunch of unnecessary confusion right now. CNET isn't perfect and they're wrong too. I've read the terms for the Note 7 Loyalty deal, and I don't see any reason to believe we will receive anything less than $425 if the trade is on the list and in good condition. The type of phone does not matter. If it's on the list you get $425. If it was based on phone type, this deal wouldn't be any different than any other trade in promotion. They are providing a flat trade value of $425 as compensation. So no matter if you trade an S5 or S7, $425 will be your number. If I'm wrong, flame me later. But I see no reason they would've already credited us the $425, only to reduce it and charge us later. They could've just charged full price and upon phone inspection, given the discount if your theory was correct.

This is what my original email said,

"As a former Note7 owner, you are eligible for a special offer when you upgrade to Galaxy Note8. Simply click on the link below to purchase Note8 and return your current phone, and we'll give you an instant trade-in value of up to $425.*"

Up to, but if your phone is on the list for 425, you will get the 425. Depends what phone you selected from the list, at least it did for me when I ordered when pre orders opened up.

When did u order?

8/24 at 8am PST. I think that if your tracking number went live last night, you'll get an origin scan today. It also did take about 30 min from the time it was actually scanned for me to get notice of it.

What link are you guys using for order chat?

If I choose "help with order", the chat box throws up a phone number with no chat option"
