Samsung G4 - Samsung Account back up not working

New to the forum & need some advice.

I have had the phone for approx 6 months & all was well, until this weekend (coincidentally about the same time my handset updated to KitKat), when the SIM stopped being recognised.

My provider is Tesco Mobile (O2) in the UK & they have told me to do a Factory Reset. I have managed to do a Goggle backup but want to back up SMS,etc via Samsung Back Up & Restore.

The problem is, Samsung Back Up & Restore is showing me an error message that "Sync is currently experiencing problems & will be back shortly". Back Up fails within seconds with a "Back Up has stopped working" error.

Advice please?
