Samsung Galaxy 5A or S7 , what do get ?

hi members , my mum's contract is up in Jan 2018 and she wants to get a new phone. At Virgin we were looking at the Samsung Galaxy 5A and i did some more research and they have the Galaxy S7 for the same price.

i googled a bit and it seems the 5A has quite a lot of problems , is the S7 a solid phone and we should go for that ?

also i've never updated the Firmware on her previous phones , i believe something will go wrong like a brick.

Am i being a bit paranoid ?

You didn't say which year A5, but I guessed 2017. S7 should be more phone so if the price is equal then S7 wins for me.

Firmware updates almost always (99.5% +) improve things. If you are offered an update it is a good thing.

i checked the Virgin website and it doesn't mention which year A5. Going by specs the S7 hammers the A5 , i'm just unsure if the S7 is to go for. I'm hoping it is solid and has few problems that can arise.
