Samsung Galaxy - Cracked Screen Defect, not dropped, Note 3 & Note 2, S4 & S3

Im in. My S4 did it yesterday- top left corner. Im going to go back to store tomorrow but the chance they'd cover it under warranty... not expecting much. Im in Australia so it costs $800+ here - hopefully I can claim under insurance. There are plenty of similar threads on here- ask in them too? http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-galaxy-s-iii/343804-s3-broken-lcd-but-glass-intact.html, http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/305142-brand-new-galaxy-s4-broken-no-reason.html etc

Hi, I had same problem with you. I called best buy, they said I need to call samsung, this damage is covered under their one year warranty. But when I called samsung customer service, they let me call best buy. Said physical damage do not cover under basic warranty. I am pretty angry that they refused to take response for their products. Do you solve your problem now?

I have something a little different.... has anyone ever seen this? its not cracked... but its something elseIMG_1959.jpgIMG_1960.jpgIMG_1961.jpgIMG_1962.jpg

Does your phone work? Mine's not even functioning the screens completely black but the back n menu buttons still light up n the indicator light still flashes. I thought my phone had died cause the battery was low then I noticed the cracks. My problem's kind of like yours but mine is like a little shattered underneath the screen and it spread a little I think cause of removing the battery n putting it back in. Other than that the phone looks like it's in mint condition n the outer screen is perfect n no scratches or anything. I never dropped it or sat on it n I've only had mine like three weeks. Oh n @Nfluencedaworld can I join in on the lawsuit or no? Also do I have to contact Samsung to join in on the lawsuit? I already know they're gonna say "physical damage" and it's not gonna be covered so I didn't bother. I have insurance but its gonna be like $175 n if happens again I'm not trying to keep paying $175 especially if it's not my fault AND I already had to pay full price for the phone cause I have T-Mobile :/

I don't see why not. He had said that he needed 100 peeps at least to start it.
Now I wonder how many peeps he has in the basket. ( like having broken eggs...lol )

My phone still works as of now. My attorney is contacting Samsung. Waiting to hear back from them. I believe I have about 40 almost 50 people so far. Did you take pictures of your phone?

My crack happened yesterday exactly at the right side in front of the power button, I immediately call CS this morning. The customer rep that assisted me stated that he would be sending me a shipping label as well, after I did not receive it I called back. The new customer service rep stated that I needed to pay $216.00 and I became very upset. I paid full price for this phone and I told them Samsung needed to stand by their products. I demanded to talk to a supervisor would sent me a shipping label and stated he was changing the justification to an evaluation. I guess that means that they will evaluate the phone to see if the cause is a manufacturer's defect. I have no intentions of paying to get this phone repaired, I expect them to do the right thing and fix this product. I will definitely join a class action if that don't do the right thing and fix it. I sent mine to the Plano service center, I am sure they are trying not to fix cracks because Samsung doesn't want to pay for those repairs no matter how they happened. These CSRs are following a script and really can't do very much, the calls definitely have to be elevated to supervisors and possibly high than them. Keep in mine this is just a Authorized Service Center and not Samsung, Inc that have punted the repair services to a contractor.

Count me in on the Class Action

Just a little side note, I don't know who your carrier is but when my screen got smashed without anything happening (that we know of) and we took it to Verizon to see what could be done - I have ins as well as it still being under warranty.

The rep told us that if we send it to Samsung for them to determine if it's their fault or ours (and the rep said that 99% time they'll say it's your fault) then MAKE SURE to tell them that it's for evaluation ONLY.

He said this (the rep) because he has had customers send their phones to Samsung to determine liability, and they've received a new phone, not knowing Samsung has found the customer to be at fault AND therefore the customer ends up being charged full retail price for a replacement phone.

So this, combined with the fact that I would be phone - less for weeks I decided to pay the 99$ deductible for my ins (this was on a Sat afternoon) and received my new phone Mon morning.

Just wanted to let you know as I wouldn't like you to be charged full retail for a replacement phone if Samsung decides that it's not their fault.

Sarks.

I have the exact same defect with my galaxy s4. I purchased the phone on January 12, 2014... a month and a day ago. The night before last a crack appeared at the top. Yesterday I contacted samsung support online (still have the chat), went to the T-mobile store I bought it from, and called the T-Mobile customer support. The short version is that even though I have only had the phone a month, babied it, used the cover they recommended, etc. they have all told me their hands are tied. I will have to pay to get it repaired or buy a new phone. I paid $625 for a phone that lasted month. If you are gathering people together for a lawsuit, I want in! Let me know what you need.
