Samsung Galaxy Fold. Who is picking one up?

Pretty much every company releases some products that haven't been perfected. Apple isn't any different.

While this true , this is straight out with demos for youtubers before in hands of customers, Apple dont roll like that.

I think folks here are being tough on Samsung. Companies take immense amount of risk when innovating like this. They are making history and that comes at a price. They will ultimately perfect this, it's just not gonna happen on Gen 1 of foldable phones.

I think part of the point is that by the time Apple decides to go this route the tech will be improved. Apple doesn't innovate much as of late.

I guess I have a different view point. I don't see anyone being tough on Samsung. I see a lot of people with fair expectations of what it should be as opposed to what it is. When it comes to new technology sometimes being first isn't the best thing to be.

Nope. Awkwardly bulky and I thin it won't be good for a few generations.

Definitely few generations

Yup.... I guess someone has to be first but I have no interest at any price buying tech that looks like a prototype and absolute questionable durability.
Doesn't click one box for me. No hate here...just fact.

Dont get me wrong I'm glad its finally coming out this kind of tech but still not ready or how I envision it

Me too but I think if they waited a bit it could have been better. Honestly....the only time I need two different devices I'm either home or able to transport both so I wouldn't gain much by carrying one device that does neither well.

I also actually prefer the Huawei design for phone usage because of the larger scrern. The only drawback is I feel because it's an external fold it's easier to damage and that price is ludacris.

I do agree Huawei version seems better but I'm sure its going have issues also

Samsung just announced they're delaying the release of the Fold indefinitely, and have halted all pre-orders until they can investigate the failures, and find a way to possibly change the protective film on the screen, and also find a way to keep foreign materials from getting under the screen at the hinge point.

It looks like the Fold is folding up shop for now :O

Where are all the notch haters on this one? People complain the iPhone and Pixel notches and suddenly the mother of all notches is released and all we hear are crickets.

The Fold is an aesthetic and functional disaster. The incredible obviousness of this makes criticisms and complaints about the design a moot point.

The notch on the 3XL is still ugly, so don't worry. :P

It's not a moot point for those that don't see it as obvious. BTW, I don't normally worry about notches or hole punches because they normally reduce bezel size and add screen, but the fold is just too extreme.

It looks great and besides the issues with the screen breaking mostly bc people peeled off the plastic on top of the screen which you aren't supposed to apparently tech reviewers seen to really like it so far for a gen1. Like anything of course it's not without it's good share of issues but seems like the future. I for one am excited to see where this takes phones in the next 2-3 years but one thing I'll say th price tag is way to high for my taste.

If phones lasted as long as laptops as far as length of time you can receive updates for then it might be worth a higher p ice tag, but the truth is most phones don't last longer than 2 years. After 2-3 years some don't even get updates anymore and to spend the price of a laptop on a phone that you might not use for more than 2 years for th average consumer doesn't sound realistic unless you have $$ to burn and money isn't an issue for you.
