Still not connected

Hello I have just upgrade my phone to 4.3 jelly bean, but the the upgradation I had the problem in connecting my phone in the PC. I saw the solution to fix the error but I tried the steps given but its only shows me two option Modem and PDA and their no other option such as qualcomm usb.

I promise you, you forgot to put the " * " character first, before the first "#". I know, because I overlooked it at first as well. You don't have to push the dial button, if you follow his instructions.

Oh - and by the way - it fixed my problem - the problem being that my Samsung Note 2 would not provide the appropriate notification whenever I plugged it into my Mac (though it would charge).

I'm putting the astrix in and I'm also not getting the menu. I've been having this problem since I got my phone in early September. Simply won't work. Changing wires, this menu doesn't even exist on my phone apparently. And so on. I figured I'd wait a few months to see if something new popped up but no.

Re: It's the cable!

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 USB PC Connection Problem With Windows7

I used to just connect my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to my Windows7 PC using a USB cable and after a moment it detected one another. However the folders on the phone would not display on the computer Windows Explorer until I enter the phone password. There was no need to use KIES at all. Also I had an old Samsung Galaxy Note, and it could also connect to the same Windows7 PC. No problem and that was fine.

I HAD NOT registered my device with Samsung for months, until just now to enable me to use online services like "Locate my mobile. Ring my phone".

Soon after my son connected my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to his computer to demonstrate the KIES function on his computer, both my Samsung Galaxy Note phones are unable to detect my Windows7 anymore by simple USB connection.

There is no doubt that registering with Samsung and connecting my phone to my son's PC, some bug must had been inserted somewhere to disable my Samsung Galaxy Note phones from detecting my Windows7 PC. May be the BUG wants me to use KIES for file transfer. That's unfair !

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for your help

ya i'm having the same problem w my note 2 sch R950 i have no options to turn on mass storage, its stuck in modem setting. tried a couple different drivers and still no avail. these people saying add the star does not apply to my version of the phone. I trusted you it does nothing but try to make a call so the coding does not work on the R950, so now what? thanks

Dude, you're a genius! Setting the Qualcom USB settings to MTP + ADB got it working. I was plugging a Galaxy Note II into my PC but I would never get the Auto Play option. Installing Kies would see the phone but would hang on "Connecting...". I googled this problem for over an hour and you are the only one with a working solution. Personally, I prefer iPhones. Thanks for the solution!

Friends i upgraded my note to kitkat 4.4. Even when it was 4.3 jellybean that time also i was not able to connect it using a usb port. I did the step of going to options as mentioned by some of you but there i see only 2 options of Modem and PDA in USB. nothing else. please can anyone help me. i don't see anything like Qualcom USB settings to MTP + ADB. I also launched USB debugging in the developer section but that is also not helping.

regards
Bhanu

hi,thanks for yours help
but every time I reboot my device it goes back to modem mode again and I should do it again and again.
what should I do?

Connect your phone to pc via usb then open device manager and click scan for hardware changes. Then your pc will recognize your phone. No need to install samsung kies or whatsoever. It works for me. Hope it helps :)

No SOLUTION for me as I STILL have the same problem after 5 months and truly countless hours. That said, I have found further information that may help one or more of you. When you type the *#7284# (or *#3424# on older/other phones) there may be a single button shown labelled "Qualcomm USB Settings" below everything else, no options, just the button. Tap on that, if it's there, and you should go to a new window that shows a number of options: MTP, MTP+ADB, PTP, PTP+ADB, RNDIS+DM+MODEM, DM+MODEM+ADB. If it does not, "Save and Reset" and when phone rebooted and stably running again, try *#0808# that MAY bring you to the "USBSettings" menu where the USB settings for: modem direct (CP), and Application Process (AP) settings (as i poorly understand it, essentially changes which processor will handle requests) can be made independent of the UART/USB menu. Below this on the same page there should be an area with the other settings not shown in the UART/USB menu (same choices as the long list above, plus one). if you need full service mode that code is often *#0011#

>> Nothing happens when I press *#7284#. I then hit
>> dial and Verizon gives me a messages asking
>> what the hell do I think I'm doing.

Long after the fact, but for future visitors...
It wasn't spam. The code given works. The reason nothing happened when the guy tried it on his device is because he wasn't using the stock dialer. If you downloaded any other dialer obviously none of the Samsung dial codes will work.

Thanks for that answer. Working from that I realised the USB socket on my phone had so much dust and pocket lint in it that the cable couldn't make a connection.

I have connectivity problems with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and I have tried SkipSoft. I think it looks like a great and helpful program. I am having a simple and aggravating problem. I have set my driver options to not let Windows install its own. That was the way my computer was set already. I have checked and double checked the setting, rebooted my computer. When I connect my phone, Windows still installs its own driver. I can see it in the device manager. I have uninstalled the Windows driver twice, rebooted each time. To no avail. I plug my phone in, Windows triumphantly installs its own driver, which doesn't work right.

I run Windows 7. I have successfully installed the SkipSoft software, all it needs is a chance to get to my phone before Windows does.
