Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Drop Test

Not sure a case would have saved the screen on the face drop. I'm not to sure GG3 is anymore of an upgrade then the glass from 5 years ago.

Gorilla glass is scratch resistant. Not unbreakable

A case with a raised lip around the edge of the screen would have saved it, especially seeing as it's a flat surface. This is why I'll be getting a CM Pop case when they finally come out. It did a great job protecting my Note 2 and I dropped that phone on concrete, ceramic tile, hardwood, carpet, etc.

Is it just me or is this pretty stupid? Obviously dropping glass on concrete isn't going to end well....what a perfectly good waste of a Note 3. Jerks!

While I understand the concept, I couldn't help but think the same thing as you. I'm dying for one of those phones and they're smashing them, haha.

Why hasnt anyone tested with the Sview or other cases?
I second this. I'd be interested in seeing how it does with that ridiculously expensive official accessory. Gotta wonder since it seems to offer a bit of protection. I'm also wondering if dropped if there's a chance of the flip cover lifting and exposing the screen to whatever full frontal damage it might receive. I'd hate to have that happen even if it did protect it well when covered.

For something many of us will have for 2+ years it can definitely help give an idea the amount of protection needed to keep it in working order/looking nice.

Compared to other recent Samsung devices this fared pretty well. I agree with BeRich that a little bit of lip on the front would help a lot in this situation. But only when dropping on something totally flat, obviously. Just don't go dancing through the rocks holding the phone face down I guess!

If Spigen makes a Slim Armor View case, we'd have the combo protection of an actual case and seemingly secured flip cover:

OMG I'd be on that case like stink on DooDoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-$

Same here, if enough people request it, they'll see the demand for one and make it. When asked on FB they had no plans of making a Slim Armor View case but are still working on their line of merc for the Note 3. So shoot them a quick email.

I definitely did on Facebook !

I'd pay big money for that case if I had to !

Just want to point out, there was a video done before of smartphones with and without screen protectors being dropped. A screen protector not only protects from scratches but will also hold the screen together better preventing massive cracking spreading across the glass SHOULD it crack. I imagine if the video posted in OP's post had a screen protector you may still see cracks but should be minimized greatly.
