Samsung Galaxy S22 ultra

I'm trying really hard not to order a new phone. I need to stop being nosy and stay out of this part of the forums. Lol

I feel you on this. I keep looking and then going back and forth about I don't need a new device. I never wanted the Note and this is just a Note device. I have no use for the S-Pen, I would likely just use it to take pics and I already don't take that many so just a waste. I've spent too much on phones every year for the last 3 years. Oh but look at it, shinny and new and it has the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 chip that can almost move the world.... And I could get a new color and and and.... But it really isn't much of an upgrade from the S21 Ultra.

Yeah I just need to break this cycle of me showing up to see what people are saying and stop watching YT videos.

I have a white note20 ultra unlocked I told myself no SD card no need to upgrade. Then saw launch and reviews. I caved unlocked 512 sky blue
Lol

TMobile will for some reason give you $800 for the $600 pixel 6 lol

I had a similar experience. I got the S20+ late in the year, just before they came out with the FE, and only paid $650 maybe, I just remember getting it for slightly less than the FE either through timing or luck or something. I then hated that phone so much that I couldn't help but want something else around the time the S21 was released. I traded that in for $600 plus the freebies Samsung was giving away at launch. I had missed out on the Galaxy Buds for the S20 but got them and the Galaxy Tag with the S21. I couldn't believe I was getting back almost everything I paid plus the extra stuff. Which is another thing keeping me looking. I could trade the S21 Ultra in since no one in my family needs or wants a new phone and depending on the offers I wouldn't hate getting one for half price or something. I keep thinking my income taxes are already in the mail, so to speak, and

And I really need to stop coming here before I talk myself into it. Because of course I would want the 12 256... LOL

The trade in value is less this year. Not sure if I will go with carriers or Samsung.

Lol still haven't ordered yet. I'm waiting til tonight or tomorrow morning. Maybe the glitches will be fixed. I will be getting 256gb instead of the 512gb. 256gb is plenty. Yeah I'm just done with the carrier junk and device payments. Unlocked gives me that freedom like feeling. You know like no preloaded junk I can't uninstall and I can switch carriers easier. I'll do carrier if only I have too. Good luck on your decision. Hope it works out for ya either way.

I promised myself that I was going to hold onto my S21 Ultra for at least 2 years. Over the past 3 years I've gotten four thousand dollar phones and only gotten a rebate/cash back on two of them. So yeah it's been an expensive ride. Every reviewer, even though at this point they are all just spec leaks, say that there isn't going to be a significant difference between the 21 and 22 to warrant getting the new one, but I might be addicted. Maybe. I'm just saying there are signs.

From what I've seen of it, I'm not sure if I would be a fan of the squared off corners and deep rounded display edges. If you couldn't tell I've never had a Note series and therefore don't really see the hype on the S-Pen either. I've played with one on my 21 at store and truthfully don't understand the purpose. Well other than a remote for pics. That would probably be the main or only thing I would use it for just because it sucks never being in any of our adventure pics or movies. I'm not sure it that is worth $700 bucks or so.

So yeah I've thought about it, don't think that I am but can't say for 100% that I won't.

Yea I tried using my tablet's s-pen with my tablet and S21U and just didn't feel it had any use for me. I'm worried about the squared off corners for pocket comfort. My TV came with a large android device that is shaped very similar to a note with squared edges and it felt very uncomfortable in my pocket stabbing me in the leg around its corners. So hopefully with the leather case it won't be too bad. They obviously have to think about pocket comfort on flagship phones? I ordered so hopefully the design of the S22U is comfortable in my pocket like the S21U. I don't care about the shape so much on a visual standpoint, but a comfort standpoint.

I'm having a hard time convincing myself to pull the trigger on this. 512 GB Note 20 Ultra with 500gb SD card is still looking and functioning great. I've been preordering Galaxy Notes since the Note 5, but for the first time, I'm really struggling to see the value in the upgrade. I prefer unlocked, but choosing the T-Mobile variant gives me $200 more in trade-in credit thru Samsung, and my out the door total would be less than $500. On the surface it seems like a solid deal... but I'm downsizing in screen size, RAM, and no SD card. Having a hard time seeing how what I gain in the 22 Ultra outweighs that... plus $500. My pre-order trigger finger wants to pull, but i feel like I'm really having to convince myself this time. Convince me to see what I'm not seeing lol.

I just went to Samsung to see what my trade in is worth and like you I could be out the door for $499 plus tax. Unlike you though I wouldn't be losing anything, my specs are similar, but, am I gaining anything, is where I'm stuck. Over the course of a year what is $500? I was even able to pick a custom color which I thought would up the price but it was still 500 at checkout.

Just when I thought I had kicked all of my addictions.

I was telling myself the same stuff. But I really wanted a tablet. So I got the S22 plus 256 and the Tab S8 256 for the same amount per month that I'm paying on my S21 Ultra 256. It's hard to pass up on the deals on samsung.com. I didn't like the squared off corners on the 22 ultra.

All my debating was for not. I went to see what the trade ins where and ended up in a check out for $499 with $250 in Samsung cash and almost pulled the trigger. I went back a day or so later thinking that a new device for 500 bucks wasn't so crazy but this time I ended up in the check out for $465 with the $250 in Samsung cash and I accidentally hit the check out button. My Samsung Pay popped up and closed on its own, I swear, then I got this email saying that I should expect a Sky Blue S22 Ultra, free upgrade to the 12GB 256, model in the mail in a few weeks. There was a note saying that custom orders could not be changed after being placed so I guess I'm stuck. The square corners were a bit concerning but I'm thinking the case that showed up to the house today will take some of the point out of them. Not even sure how they got my address...?

Just curious how your N20U died?? Repairable?? Couldn’t use as a trade??

Don't know what happened just turned off one day and never turned back on. Don't know if it would be accepted as trade in. One of the things asks for trade in is if the screen turns on. I'm sure it could be repaired if I sent it in.

I got my case for the S22U yesterday and put my S21U in it and put it in my pocket and it didn't feel too overly different but yea, I'm not a fan of square edges over rounded from an in-the-pocket comfort point of view. Once I get the new phone and have it in my pocket for longer periods of time we'll see.
