Samsung Galaxy s3 headphones not working (Volume Control buttons)

Do you have s-voice turned on? I believe there's a setting in there somewhere that selects whether s-voice is always listening for input. Make sure that's turned off.

Settings- system- accessibility- hearing- sound balance. Try that :). For those who have problems with hearing only in one ear piece.

I have ordered so many pairs of headphones and returned for the right ear not working. On some pair, it works great for a while and then stops on the right ear only. I thought the product was defective until today. I have a pair that just stopped working. I had a brand new pair as back-up and the right ear does not work either. I tried it on my husbands phone and daughters ipod and it works fine, appears to be the phone itself. I tried to do all the things listed here and still no luck, right ear does not work. Do you think this could be resolved? The phone was purchased in December so it is not that old.
thanks!

I bought my phone at then end of September and I have had exactly the same problem since last month! I first thought it was due to the headphone but after buying a brand new one, I saw that it's something about the phone itself. only the left ear works no matter what I try. I had loved Samsung so much but now I am starting to hate it due to these unreasonable malfunctions!

I have the problem with the volume controls and the mic not working.... everything is plugged in, but for some reason they don't work and the weird thing is it did work....and out of nowhere i can't use them anymore.

This has happened to 2 headsets by Samsung now. Its always the right ear. Does anyone have a fix?

@tortor0913 I had same issue, seems like it's loose/broken wiring within the sheath. If I press backward on the wire end of the jack (and the wire itself) while it's plugged in, it starts working again briefly while the pressure's on. I guess it's just wear & tear.

I guess this is related to some app using the mic/right earphone. Mine sometimes works without handling plugs and connectors.
