Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 APN Straight Talk settings HELP

You should go step by step in your video, but when I input these settings and restarted my Galaxy S4 Active running 4.2.2 it immediately connected to 4G network!!! Straight talk is awesome and $h!tty at the same time. But thanks to you and all the people who know how to figure these things out.
Peace

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 APN Straight Talk settings HELP

Another glitch re Straight Talk, unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4, micro ATT sim: My daughter and I each have this phone. We both have problems with pictures via messaging. She cannot send pictures in messages, but can receive them. I can send pictures in messages, but cannot receive them. I have tried the messaging app (which gives me no indication that I rec'd a message with a picture, Hangouts, which will give me a message that says: "Touch to download MMS message. Size: 33kb. Expires: 3/25pm" - of course, when I touch-to-download, I get nothing.) I have also used "Go SMS" - with the same problem. Mobile data is "on". I've tried many different APN settings, without success. I've talked to Straight Talk and after about an hour, I was told there was nothing wrong with my phone. Was transferred to a supervisor who told me to wait 24 hours....probably so he wouldn't have to address the issue. The two people I talked to seemed like this was the first time they heard of this problem. Can anyone help?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 APN Straight Talk settings HELP

Hi, so I got myself the new samsung galaxy s4 from AT&T and unlocked it. Everything is working great except for the mobile data, I can't send or receive mms and can't get on the Internet. I'm really at a loss on what to do with the APN; I did try the settings straight talk provided but that didn't work. Someone please help if you can. Thanks!

Take your battery and take your Sims card out and put it back in and it should work

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 APN Straight Talk settings HELP

I am having the same problem that a bunch of others have. I have a T-Mobile version of the GT-i9500 factory unlocked. I have found so many different settings for the APN it's not even funny! I have tried them all with no luck. I tried settings for the T-Mobile version and the AT&T version (because when I pull down the notification bar it says AT&T at the bottom, but default APN was T-Mobile) I'm so lost...If anybody has this phone and got Straight Talk to work, could you please share? Oh, that MCC & MNC settings, if I change the MNC to 410 from 260 then save the APN, it's not there in the list. But if I leave it set to 260 and save, it's there like it should be. My head's gonna explode!

Re: Samsung Galaxy S4 APN Straight Talk settings HELP

I purchased an unlocked android 4.2.2 dual core 5" smartphone for my husband from China, and I had the worst problem ever trying to get the APN right so my husband would be able to access the internet and send/recieve MMS...After many attempts I have found this to work and now i'm actually happy that our money did not go to waist. Thank you so much everyone for you help...These settings made me feel so much better about myself, becuse I do not like being deffeted by technologie. :D

Hi I have a galaxy s4 active I just activated it to straight talk byop (at&t) everything works except I can't browse the internet or send/receive mms. I've been reading different things online tried many apns none worked FINALLY one worked my phone went to 4g I sent an mms and received one back and checked fb LOL:) this is what I used...
APN: tfdata
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS PROXY: mms.tracfone.com
MMS PORT: 80
APN TYPE: default,supl,mms
Then BAM as soon as I turned my Wi-Fi on 4g disappeared now there is an E? Not sure why I tried turning my Wi-Fi off and nothing can't do what I could just a minute ago PLEASE HELP I'm not sure if it's just because I have bad signal where I live or because the apn settings..

One year ago I bought a Samsung tracfone S2 from Walmart and thoroughly enjoyed the phone and service. Fast forward to my recent purchase off eBay, an ATT locked Samsung 337 S4. I popped the sim from the S2 in the S4 and I was off and running except for picture mail (MMS) texting was fine. With a little research I found some APN setting the worked. All was well until my wife asked me to get my old S2 serviceable for her (she was using a flip phone. I discovered that the S2 was still listed as "in use" and in order to release the phone to her I had to get a new sim card which meant that I could no longer use the old S2 sim in my S4. So I ordered a BYOP sim from walmart and inserted into S4 and did an online transfer. It was very easy. My old APN settings worked as before.

Next I decided I wanted to unlock the S4 for an upcoming trip overseas. ATT would not do an unlock since they had the phone still under contract and would not say when they might be able to unlock it. I purchased an unlock code from "unlockthatphone.com" and got the phone unlocked. When I put my sim card back in the phone my 4G service briefly worked then was gone. I checked the APN settings and the APN for Stright Talk was gone and I had not written them down so back to the internet to find some that would work.

Yes it is frustrating, I was worried unlocking the phone might have made it impossible to get picture mail again but that just didn't make sense. Finally found what works for me.(posted below). It seems that there is not a one fix for all.

APN tfdata
proxy not set
port 80
Username Not set
Password Not set
Server Not set
MMSC http://mms-tf.net
Proxy mms3.tracfone.com
Multimedia message port 80
MCC 310
MNC 410
Authentication type not set
APN type not set

Bearer unspecified
MVNO none

When done save your settings, clear your cache, and restart your phone.

Hope this helps someone. You will noticed that many of the setting others recommend are left blank, I think less is better, keep it simple.

Update: I found the APN settings I was using before the unlock and tried them but they would not work now that the phone is unlocked. So it appears an unlocked phone needs different settings.

So to all who want to try the above settings. My phone is an ATT Samsung 337 S4 unlocked with non ATT method's as mentioned in the paragraph above.

APN type Not set

APN protocol IPv4

APN roaming protocol IPv4

Enable/Disable APN APN enabled (checked)

Thank you. I just bought a new S4 from ATT yesterday and I opened this forum and just started entering in the APN settings down the line...yours worked. Thanks for posting. Both my MMS and Data work perfectly. As soon as I entered these settings, the 4g logo appeared. I didn't have to reset my phone or anything. I have a SIM card from Straight Talk that is for ATT phones. I got the unlock code from ATT, but didn't need to use it.

You are the man worked galaxy s4 zoom 105 ATT phone.

Settings that worked for my SGH-I337 AT&T Branded Galaxy S4 for use on Straight Talk are:

name: straighttalk
APN: tfdata
Proxy: Not set
Port: 8080
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: http://mms-tf.net
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: Not set
APN Type: default,supl,mms,internet,hipri
Bearer: Unspecified

Any change in any of these settings on my phone disables MMS or Phone or Data

For T-Mobile compatible phones:
Name : Straight Talk
APN : wap.tracfone
Proxy (for smart phones): Left Blank
Port : Left Blank
User name : Left Blank
Password : Left Blank
Server : Left Blank
MMSC : http://mms.tracfone.com
MMS proxy : Left Blank
MMS port : Left Blank

This is the closest I've come to solving it.

These settings are the ones that worked for me. I tried so many I can't remember how many it took, I was just about to give up when I tried these! Everything works now!
