I can attest. I have messages organized among 9 categories with Samsung. I wish I could have RCS on Samsung Messages. I'd use it. (U1 on AT&T)You can't have Samsung RCS on U1

as I said in a different place, my Samsung Messages shows RCS toggled on in Settings when Google is selected as Default. once I select Samsung as the Default, RCS disappears for me, at least on AT&T.You can now , in the past you couldn't except Sprint at the time .
So this may or may not apply anymore: See if there is an Uninstall Updates under the top right three dots in App Info. Downgrade. Let Galaxy Store re-update it.
Otherwise ODIN and if that doesn't work, the backup might be no good. Re-export everything with 3rd party tools and set it up from scratch one app at a time starting with messages.
Out of ideas, especially above about carrier services which was a good suggestion.
Clear data then force stop and see if it shows upas I said in a different place, my Samsung Messages shows RCS toggled on in Settings when Google is selected as Default. once I select Samsung as the Default, RCS disappears for me, at least on AT&T.
Carrier service didn't do anything for the Samsung message app , I tried that back in the day trying to get RCS with Samsung messages on unlocked, yes I agree it gets confusing now what Samsung is doing. What is going on over there?! First they want to kill S-Messages. Then they don't. And now Unlocked supports RCS?
This further cements my Samsung is becoming Google (no vision/direction). I digress.
My phone doesn't even have it installed anywhere. Not sure if I Shizuku'd it away or what. So this may or may not apply anymore: See if there is an Uninstall Updates under the top right three dots in App Info. Downgrade. Let Galaxy Store re-update it.

That's strange, try what I mentioned clear data then force stopand this is mine on AT&T before setting Samsung as Default. this page disappears once I designate Samsung as Default.

It will but everything should repopulate againif I clear data, then I wipe all of my settings, including my categories, yes?
"should" is doing an awful lot of work right thereIt will but everything should repopulate again
I can't be"should" is doing an awful lot of work right there![]()
I'll think about it. If after clearing data I lose my categories, I'm very far out of luck (unless I can do a restore from Samsung Cloud and the categories are saved there).I can't be
But I just did the clear data and Force stop and my messages repopulate now I don't have custom ringtones or anything
Categories won't restore. That's an app data thing. I just went through all of this. It will only give you your message back in one file dump.I'll think about it. I also tried this from the SmartSwitch backup I made but that too didn't get recognized and so im just grateful I have my messages at the least. I can reconfigure the categories, ringtones, and wallpapers over time.
It's odd that they would add categories to their email management, but not their text messages.Go Google messages lol
not when you consider it's GoogleIt's odd that they would add categories to their email management, but not their text messages.
