Samsung Moment battery life

Which task killer are you using?

theres a good discussion about this... i have a task killer which i rarely ever use and my battery last a long time.. according to android the OS doesnt waste battery regardless of the apps that are open..

My issue is that between the battery level indicator while charging when the phone is OFF, the battery level indicator at the top right hand corner, and the battery level widget I have, nothing shows the same information.

The widget shows only 90%, even when one of the other indicators shows it's fully charged, and after about I'd say between 10 and 20 minutes of use after taking it off the charger, the indicator in the upper right hand corner had depleted a bit, and the widget indicator was at 80%.

The widget I'm using is Battery Widget v.16.1 and got all around 4 to 5 star ratings on the marketplace but for some reason would not show 100% charge level when everything else said it was fully charged.

I've been using it on and off all day, since about 2 or 3 AM this morning, checking email, texting, made about 3 or 4 calls, checked the marketplace, then more texting. Had the ringer on high for texts and phone calls, and app killer running in the background so no more than Id say 5 or 6 total apps running at any one time, and the phone is at 30% charge according to widget, which according to the upper right hand indicator is barely below what I'd say is 50%.

I don't understand, you stated that it closes the apps every time the screen goes dark, doesn't that mean you are always using it rather than "rarely" or do you have it set up to not do anything. I was just hoping to get the name of the app. Sounds like Automatic Task Killer. Am I right? I've read a bunch of articles that people think that it is worthless to kill aps, but I have also read many that were the opposite. I was just wondering what your using and your opinion of it was.

i have the automatic task killer which i dont even use.. i agree that its worthless according to the Android OS it doesn;t matter that those apps are showing because the OS doesn't utlize it unless your using it. and when i first did use ATK i never noticed a difference... its just there on my screen i could take it off but sometimes i use it when a program glitches to manually close it... its up to u but my experience its worthless until i need to manually close a app .... you can keep closing apps all day which is annoying to me... how long does your battery last?

i use "advanced task killer" and it works great and makes my phone run faster!!. everytime i turn on my phone i use it and you could see how many apps are running. i also use it whenever i'm done using the phone "i make it a habbit" my battery has been lasting almost 2 days before i charge it. and i use it alot!! gmail and gps always on!! also my battery indicator and widget stay at 100% for about 3 hours before they drop to 90% with regular use

Moment battery life after cl14

I get 2 days with normal use. Usually charge at night to be safe but can go all day easy.

Task Killer

I am using Automatic Task Killer 2.5.1 I downloaded it free. It's been a week since my initial post and I can say I am quite happy with my battery life. I don't really talk on the phone that much but I do use the applications quite a bit including checking e-mail and checking things on the web. After one day the battery still has over 90% life left. Two days and about 60% maybe a little more.

There is also an app in the market call Auto Memory Manager which I use along with Advanced Task Killer. I have set the Memory Manager to aggressive which monitors available memory and kills processes on its own. Also if you go into the settings of ATK, you can set the auto kill level which I also set to aggressive. Another good tip is to place the ATK widget on one of your home screens so you do not have to open up the app each time. Click on the widget and it tells you haw many apps were killed. My batt life is awesome and I seldom have to kill apps because they are monitored behind the scenes.

Moment Battery

I also just got the moment...I LOVE the phone but I HATE the battery. It runs out incredibly fast! I plan on trying to drain it and charge it for a few days to see if that helps. Just glad to know it isn't just my phone.

Here's how to find out what is using your battery up on a Samsung Moment.
click on settings
click on about phone
click on battery use
You can click on the individual items if you wish also.
There you have it....if it is an app that you downloaded that is eating it up you now have the option of uninstalling it and going back to more use of the android system.
(I found out for me that I had downloaded a free app called Hot Apps and it was using 73% of my battery up!..UNINSTALLED)

Turn off vibrate or haptic feedback. Since vibrating phones have been out, that feature eats battery. If you use your task killers then the other big battery consumer is signal strength. In san diego I'm good on both signal and battery. When I'm at 29 palms (middle of nowhere desert) signal is crap and it eats the battery trying to find signal.
Our phones these days are more than just phones. What do you expect from a mobile phone if you are streaming pandora all day with gps on 100% screen brightness and haptic feedback on? My next phone be it epic or evo I know they have potential to eat battery life. Its up to me to manage it.

I still get questions about the Samsung Moment battery (yes, unfortunately people are still using this phone). I am a tech and nobody on this form has touched on the biggest issues that affect most cell phone batteries. DO NOT overcharge your phone. Please read the details at this blog: Cell Phone Info Center | A to Z Cellular Education & Support. It will help prolong the life of your battery. All the best guys!

I had the moment for 2 years and I got good 8 hours of work and that was it. That took a little tweaking but it still lasted.
