Samsung Nexus 10.1

I think it's real. Google's been trying to get rid of inconsistency and fragmentation and since this looks/acts exactly like the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7, I think it's the way they're going.

I have a feeling you are right, but at the same time I wish there were a more efficient way of doing it -- there are some parts to iOS that make a good bit of sense.

Just ugly, why has samsungs tablets been getting uglier lately?

I'm starting to believe it. Eek. Kinda sucks. Can't rip on the ipad anymore for having a gigantic phone ui. Phone ui works great on the nexus 7, but isn't the whole idea that everything is in thumbs reach on a 10 inch tablet?

Sucks for me too being a paranoid android user, after it gets updated to 4.2, bye bye tablet ui

I don't like this layout.

Perfect size for a tablet but they are waiting too long to release it.

Should have been released when the nexus 7 came out.

7"is just too small for a tablet

Nothing will.

Regardless, this is one of the ugliest things I've ever laid my eyes on.

True that, that's why it needs to be priced competitively. Otherwise it's just Motorola Xoom chapter 2

It needs to be starting at $399. But I can't see that because the tab2 10.1 is priced at $399, and the weaker than the nexus note is considerably higher, and I can't see Samsung beating itself with pricing

Given the specs, $449 or $499 are more realistic.

It's might not be, could be the design team experimenting with an early build.

I guess I can see why they'd go this route. Google is really trying to jump start its tablet market, and honestly tablet ui is a bit confusing if your used to the phone ui. They probably want familiarity. It doesn't look terrible I guess other than the gigantic navigation bar with 3 little buttons in the middle.

Personally I don't really understand why we need the bar, they could just have the buttons overlap the screen

I had been seriously looking at the Asus Transformer Infinity but I think this Nexus 10 maybe what I finally go with. This would be my first tablet purchase. Still looking for the right phone to replace my HTC Thunderbolt which has been less than a rewarding experience.

Except it works on the nexus 7 because of the small form factor. I imagine on a 10 inch tab constantly taking your hand off one side to get to the navigation would be quite a chore. The whole concept with honeycomb was to have everything in thumbs reach.

One thing I hate is the dock. Absolutely useless on a tablet, and that's why I need a static app drawer button. But with this layout you won't get that. So to have a static app drawer button, you have to have the dock enabled.

Also yeah the navigation bar looks like crap, way too much wasted space. This is very much why a unified bar made sense on a tablet.

I hope when they make the jump to 5,the navigation bar is gone. The idea was to move android away from its designed for buttons roots and make it more of a pure touch os, but it is a bit stupid the best they could come up with was to kill physical buttons in favor of a bar that sacrifices screen real estate. So they didn't really accomplish anything did they?
