Samsung Note 3: "Prevention Information" Message

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

I did not actually install KNOX on my phone, which is not rooted. I only have the stub program that says KNOX needs to be downloaded, but there are some other KNOX-related things pre-installed, like the KNOX Notification Manager that appears to be sending these "Prevention Information" messages. I think different carriers handled KNOX differently, because I've also read that some people don't even have the stub program. (I have it, and I'm on Sprint.) I think I read today somewhere, maybe here, that Samsung is aware of this issue, so hopefully they or somebody is working on a fix. It seems like we're running out of options to fix this by ourselves.

It's in the Samsung folder in your app drawer.

When it message pops up, pull down your notification shade and long press the message. This will bring you too an app (forgot what it's called) and tap force stop. This will stop the message.

Yep, your right, I disabled the app becaise I didn't know what it was for. I re-enabled it, I'll check it out.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

Hi guys. I have a brand new Galaxy Note 3 and even I have received this kind of notification. I already uninstalled all of my apps and even reset my phone but still Prevention Information shows up. I knew something was up with the apps already installed in my phone when I bought it. So this morning I went to Knox Notification Manager and I tried clearing the data and force stop. I discovered it was Knox all along.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

Following my post above, I unticked the auto update security and ticked it again. A few seconds later the phone notified me that there are system update currently downloading, after downloading and restarting another package was waiting which after it was installed the issue was resolved and didnot show (at least so far).
Well I am glad you said so far ........cause the same thing that happened to you, it happened to me ..but after several days of not having the error..... I got it again today ........

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

Knock on wood, but like several others, I had "lookout antivirus" patch and haven't seen that shield pop up again in several hours (both on wifi and off it several times)

I don't want to sound negative but if you read back on the other post, one says that after installing lookout the problem got solved.... there is another one that says uninstall lookout and it will fix the problem....... Well I have look out and I have gotten the message when I was connecting to my wifi....... so I followed some one suggestion and went to knox and even thought it is not active, I cleared the cache and cleared the data....Bingo... the error estopped when I connect to wifi......but a day or tow it came back triggered by something else. I think we are all chasing witches in the dark ............

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

I believe I may have fixed my issue. I have a note 3 through AT&T and I noticed today that "samsung apps" app had 3 updates. As soon as they updated and I went from one wifi connection to another today I had the issue everyone else has had. I have followed everyones advice by clearing and unchecking "knox" and also did hard reset to the phone with no luck. I finally uninstalled the updates to the "Samsung Apps" app and restarted my phone and low and behold no more annoying message. Hope this helps everyone.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

Mine has just started to do this a few days ago.

Mine needed to be downloaded but at some point it downloaded itself because I never downloaded it myself.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

I disabled the two ANT apps and unchecked "verrify apps" in google apps which just appeared on my phone the day before the pop up started. I have never installed Knox and so far after a restart and wifi disable/enable no more pop up, so hopefully sorted for me

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

Same here started on November 1st and get it twice daily.

The note 3 beast

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

This only started for me today, but it is Knox. After going to the App by long pressing "Prevention Information" and clearing All and Cached Data then Force Stop, this has resolved the problem on my Note 3......for now anyway, fingers crossed.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

I've been getting this for a few days now. It's so annoying. I don't even use Knox. I use Norton so I don't get why I keep getting this. Hopefully, we can get to the bottom of this soon.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

I got my note 3 this monday, and I started having this problem. It only happened when I turned on and off the Wi-Fi. I turned off my Wi-Fi and I haven't had the message again.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

its not a self induced problem its a knox and samsung problem hopefully they will have some kind of fix soon as its seems to be spreading, Just got off phone with Samsung they are of course aware and working on fix to get down to end users. Nothing you can do to permanently fix as I suspected. Hope it comes soon annoying to those of us that transition several wifi areas

I think the only fix for now without having to root your phone is to check the box "Do not show for 30 days", and the notification will not display for 30 days.

Re: Samsung Note 3 "Prevention Information" Message

Mine needed to be downloaded but at some point it downloaded itself because I never downloaded it myself.

I tapped on the stub program a day or two ago, and it was still telling me I needed to download KNOX, so it's currently not installed on my phone. If yours did get installed somehow, perhaps you used some other application that required it? I don't really know.

FWIW, over on the Sprint forum thread about this, they're saying, "We are aware of this issue and working on a fix. The error is is erroneous and related to how KNOX perceives WiFi data streams. Turn off WiFi and it goes away." Someone replied to that saying he/she doesn't use WiFi and still has the problem, so I'm not sure about the cause. But it does looks like Sprint is working on a patch for us (no ETA yet though). This suggests that the fix is going to have to come from our carriers, and we won't be able to solve it ourselves. Well, rooting and doing stuff might, but the carriers won't recommend that, of course. I hope this is of some help.
