Maybe it's going through NFC, then.
Sorry for the that was supposed to be a reply to you.Huh? Idk who you are responding to but if you mean me -- no it wasn't. It was doing MST and working without the chip.
The problem with Samsung Pay using MST is that most cashiers are gonna think you're nuts attempting to pay with your phone at a terminal without NFC.
Also, most terminals I come across, now have chip readers, and my cards all have chips. If you attempt to swipe your card through the stripe reader, the terminal will direct you to the chip reader.
So SP faking a card swipe at most terminals without NFC isn't going to work, if they're equipped with a chip reader.
MST doesn't work in UK so no reason for me to use spay.
Also the spay rewards program does not work either.
That's just it though it isn't just people from the US that visit this website, most places here in the UK have NFC terminals anyway so MST would be redundant here. Not only that but Visa, the provider of most credit and debit cards in Europe, don't allow MST which means that the banks also don't support MST.
Weird Visa doesn't allow MST but if NFC is widespread in the UK I guess I can see why. Does Mastercard allow MST?
Based on this thread I've been trying SP again. (I had tried it early on and found it finicky at chip reading cards but now it seems better and consistent.)
I'm trying to figure out how to refine payment into one fluid motion. As one person said above with AP all I had to do was unlock and tap.
Now I'm wondering if I have the wrong combination of options. I turn on/unlock phone, swipe up from home screen then use fps to unlock then flip phone over in my hands to tap the back to the NFC terminal. TBH this is not about the extra seconds of time... it's about being a bit fumbly and frankly risks a drop at a drive through for example.
Also sorry I want to be gunslinger cool and just draw my phone and put it back all in one motion.
Maybe if I try swiping up with the option from screen off?
I have used both in the US. Samsung Pay at non-NFC terminals, Samsung Pay at NFC terminals, and Android Pay. I use Android Pay a lot actually now due to having a Pixel 2 XL. The only time Samsung Pay may take an extra second or two is with non-NFC / mobile payment terminals (a.k.a "Traditional" terminals)... otherwise I saw no difference. Not sure why you did? Maybe UK terminals are just bad? Idk.
If 1 second is too long for you Idk what to say... It takes just as long for Android pay and here in the US it doesn't work for MST terminals - which unfortunately is everywhere. So its basically worthless for me - I only used it for PayPal and now that SPay finally added it I've abandoned Android Pay. I use iris recognition to verify SPay too which takes less than a second and is just as or more secure.
Just because your bank won't use SPay means absolutely nothing. It's as secure as APay and more secure than using your card. Quit bashing and use Android pay or cash if that's your preference. If your only reasoning that Apay is better is because it's always open that's a losing argument... No rewards, points, gift cards or prizes. It doesn't always work when I tap, no MST, and just like SPay not all banks use it, many of my membership cards aren't compatible, Many store issued cards don't work... Yes, it is superior on this Earth and probably Mars too. It may be a good option in Europe but that's just it - another option to choose from.
Crazy the differences between Visa in the 2 countries. All my cards are Visa and have chips and SPay works nearly everywhere using MST and it's great!
So now we know
USA = SAMSUNG Pay > Everything else
Europe = Android Pay > SAMSUNG Pay
eh? it's nothing to do with the terminals, read my post again.
You said it is slow. I said maybe from the terminals. As I said I have used both and have no issues so not sure where you see the "slow" from -- hence me guessing the terminals over there if it is really that noticeable.
Sigh... Yes I know what you said. You said it's slow. I am tossing a theory that maybe it's the terminals since all you said was "it is slow".If you read my post completely i don't mention the terminals, i meant from the app, slow wasn't the right word, its not as fluid as APay because you have an extra security step, yes it doesn't take long, but with APay once the phone is unlocked you tap n pay, so much better and easier.

Salty af, what's your problem pal? got out the wrong side of bed yesterday?
i aint bashing anything and don't tell me what to do i'm entitled to my opinion, the extra security in Spay is BS, if you don't like it, either don't read it or don't reply to it, capiche.
How can it be the same when there's an extra step each time for Spay, have you even tried Apay? lol Yea i know time wise its irrelevant but from a convenience point of view it does make a difference, well to me anyway, i was finding Spay annoying because of the extra security step. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one![]()
Well technically it is ( in certain circumstances ) the same number of steps. They're just performed in a different order. How can it be the same when there's an extra step each time for Spay, have you even tried Apay? lol Yea i know time wise its irrelevant but from a convenience point of view it does make a difference, well to me anyway, i was finding Spay annoying because of the extra security step.
