Android Central Question

Hello,

I connect my phone to my laptop with a cable and then I cut and pasted some videos and photos onto my lap top into a new folder on my desktop.

However the files are now suddenly very big on my laptop - each JPEG is around 8gb and none the videos or photos will open.

Can anyone help me please?

Hi

I registered as you suggested

I'm accessing the files in the usual way via media player or with photos - The folder has files with icons but they aren't showing as thumbnails and the files are huge

Hi , welcome!
How about on the phone they open ok ?

can I restore "cut" files on my phone?
You can try, so long as you haven't cut or copied anything else. This sort of issue is why it's best to copy, not cut, so the originals remain until you've verified the transfer went smoothly.

As to the problem at hand, are you sure you're trying to view jpegs and not RAW files?

If I had to guess I'd say the files have not been compressed properly. Perhaps I am missing a codec or driver but Ive search ed and searched and I can't find anything to help. These are videos of my children Id really like to recover

Please help me
Please try to be patient, as we are regular people like you just visiting and volunteering at this site, so sometimes replies will lag.

I wouldn't rule out a corrupted transfer. Did you transfer a combined total of about 8 GB of photos?

On a side note, did you have Google Photos set to backup your photos? If so, it may be less frustrating to download the backed up photos and just start over again.
