Samsung S4 - Wifi range does not reach far

I just got this phone refurbished and I realized when I go outside I can't get a good WiFi signal I get no bars which leaves me baffled because I have a cheap Alcatel One Touch Fierce to and with that I can go a pretty nice distance before the WiFi signal drops out like at least past my garage but the Samsung Galaxy WiFi drops as soon as I step outside. When I am in the basement Alcatel picks up both my neighbors WiFi but Samsung S4 only picks up mines whats up with this? Is it that the WiFi on the Samsung Galaxy S4 just doesn't have good range? or is it just my Samsung Galaxy s4 having the issues?

Yes that's the signal problem you are encountering, and the good thing is a repair guy can do it with a single tweak. It happened with my old HTC desire S, but the repair guy i trusted got it fixed within 15 minutes, though it is not that reliable. You will start having this kind of issue in a few days or most probably in a week. There is no permanent fix for that.

I think it is possible by using something like this https://ethernetextender.com/wifi-extension/ to increase wifi range. I read on their site, they are claiming wifi range can be extend to pretty far. Like thousand feet and more.
