Samsung s5 battery drain Lollipop

That's impressive i have no idea how you are managing that screen time with that uptime and still 42% left! What rom are you on? I'm still stuck on OBD7 :/

After reading about all of the issues with the Lollipop update, I had been putting the update off for as long as I could. But one night, I woke up and the update had already started, so I was stuck with it. Anyway, before even messing with Lollipop, the very first thing I did was a full factory data reset. The phone works and runs perfectly and the battery is just as good as it was on KitKat. Now, I can't say a FDR is the answer since I didn't even take the time to run Lollipop without a FDR, but I can say that if you have the time and patience to do a FDR, you should have absolutely no issues with Lollipop. I get that it's a pain, but you can back up and restore and it's not the worst thing in the world to clean out your phone anyway.

quite satisfied with mine

Wow that is impressive to have such good time even with the poor signal quality level. Just think what you could have with a good signal level.

GRR. I seriously just accidentally 'ok'd' the lollipop update on my phone, the OK button was close to the back button i think, and now the batter has dropped from 100-83 in about 20 minutes. So so so stupid. I just got the SG5 yesterday evening, and this morning played around with it on kit kat and at 10% it lasted a good hour or so (switched to power save towards the end of it). I suppose I'm now doomed? :(

My S5/Lollipop was going flat over night with 60-70% battery level even with the usual shut down of apps etc.

I read through this thread and adhered to alot of ideas listed (except the hard reset) to end up with the phone loosing only 1% over night from a full charge with 21 days avail in sleep mode.

What looks to be obvious to me is that there are different reasons and a combination of reasons why there is an increase of battery usage.

I removed certain apps, applied particular settings, cleared caches etc.

Thanks everyone for your input. :D

I agree. My battery life has always been decent (acceptable for me), but I was cleaning up my phone this weekend and removed weatherbug and yahoo weather and my battery life improved tremendously yesterday and today! Now do I have the desire to try one vs. the other to see which one was the bigger battery drain culprit? Ha.
