Samsung S6 Power & Volume Buttons Broke - how to turn on?

A

AC Question

Daughter dropped her S6 and broke the screen. Repair shop replaced screen but said the power and volume buttons were corroded and they could not get them to work. Subsequently the phone ran out of power, and now we cannot turn it on. Tried the volume down + home button trick, didn't work.

The phone was bought used off amazon and this happened just past the 30 day window.

any way to get phone to power up?

I'm not an expert at these things but there appears to be corrosion where the button PCB ribbon connector is fastened to the motherboard(left photo) and on the chips on the right hand side photo. It looks more like a motherboard issue. Did the repair shop offer guidance on what is required to put it right?

The shop said they couldn't fix it...it was all one piece that included the power and volume buttons. I didn't realize they were referring to the motherboard. Can a motherboard be replaced? ...
