Samsung S6 USB Audio doesn't work?

I wanted to use the USB audio function on my phone to connect to my DAC and then connect my DAC to my headphone amp.
This works fine with my Sony Xperia Z3 and my OnePlus One when running Android 4.4.

However, with the Samsung S6 (running Samsung's touchwiz version of Lollipop) the USB audio function no longer works.
After upgrading my OnePlus One to Cyanogenmod 12 (running Lollipop) , the USB Audio also ceased to function.

As the Xperia Z3 on Kitkat 4.4.4 still works it must be some issue or setting with Lollipop?

Is there a setting I need to adjust?

Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Although it probably doesn't matter a whole lot, I will move this post to the S6 forum (not the S6 Edge forum).

Go to Settings>Developer Options, and see if you have a "Disable USB audio routing" option. Make sure that isn't turned on.

He may need to unclock the developer option on his phone.

True. But in order to have disabled USB audio in the first place, someone would have had to activate Developer Options.

In any case, if you don't see Developer Options, then go to Settings>About Phone, and tap Build Number 7 times.

Yes, I do have something similar "prevent USB automatic routing" and it is not turned on (i.e. the box is not highlighted.
So the setting is as you have advised and I cannot use the micro-USB audio.
After upgrading my OnePlus One to Cyanogenmod 12 (Android 5.0x, I lost the micro-USB audio connectivity. But on the Samsung, it never worked.

Any other hints?

Thanks

Thanks for trying, but that didn't help guys.
I'm kinda familiar with the basics both of you have identified as I've been rooting phones for a few years now.
This Galaxy S6 is OEM touchwiz, and I really need some help from someone who has a S6 and has solved the problem.
That said I'm thinking its a Lollipop issue since my OnePlus One USB Audio worked fine before upgrading to Lollipop (Cyanogenmod 12). As the S6 is also on Lollipop, perhaps its that....
Anyway, I do appreciate you trying to help, but my problem still exists.

I am curious; does the USB audio out work with other DACs? I have heard of USB powered DACs that would work on one device and not another; it could be a power out/demand issue.

Hi Same thing happened on my Xperia z3 when I upgraded to Lollipop. Worked fine before upgrade but now outputs data to the DCA at 192 kHz instead of 44khz making it difficult to listen to.

Did you manage to sort the problem ?

I was messing around and discovered that this works for my Note 4. Might be worth a shot with the S6:

1. Make sure developer mode is enabled (note developer mode has to be enabled by tapping 7 times on the build number Under settings>general.about device.build number).

2 Make sure DAC/AMP is off and connected

3. Go to settings > general > developer mode (don't need to touch any settings)

4. Leave settings and play (Home button or back button doesn't seem to matter)

5. Play music with Google Music (must use Google music before any other music apps)

6. Play any other music app you like

You have to do this every time you connect/turn on the DAC or restart the Note 4. BTW you can also start playing Google PLay Music first them turn on the DAC, seems to work either way.

I can't get USB audio to work on my S6 either. I just bought a FiiO K1 USB dac/amp and I found a review on Amazon where a user commented saying it worked perfectly on their Galaxy S6. I have developer options enabled, but the prevent USB audio routing option is off. Sometimes I get static when I have the FiiO K1 plugged in (via OTG cable btw). Also I have noticed when the K1 is plugged into my S6, if I get any sort of notification, the sound comes through the phone's speaker and is very garbled. Otherwise music doesn't play though anything, not even the phone, when the K1 is plugged in.

OK I just wanted to let you if u still have that problem you should go to developper settings then chose audio source in usb configuration it should be mtp by default hope I'm not too late.

This worked for me but also after I tested if I could just start music playing on the speaker then plug in my dac and it worked fine at least the 3 times I tested that method
