Samsung you're in serious trouble if you think people will pay $1000 for a phone

Re: Does the price bother you?

I'm not, well I didn't mean to be.

The limitations of what the Dex doc can do are many, but for my work at home purposes, primarily word processing and document writing and review, it works beautifully with Word.

It certainly is the best tech yet to convert a smartphone into monitor computer experience and should get better with more developer support.

Re: Does the price bother you?

No because I'm buying mine on contract. Even if I wasn't the price is still acceptable. I paid £819 for my iPhone 7 plus directly from Apple last year. The unlocked note 8 in my country is only £40 more so I think the unlocked price is ok. Under £900 is ok. Over £900 is too much imo.

Re: Does the price bother you?

Not in the least.

My smartphone is used from the moment I wake to the moment I sleep, for communicating and keeping in touch with my entire family, morning prayer, enjoying music, and for any and everything regarding work.

Holding a multitasking computer in my hands, for less than $1000, in my case $30 a month after trading in an old N4, makes complete sense.

And with the arrival of my Dex doc and new Black Note 8, I just avoided spending $1200 for a new desktop for work at my home

Go Note 8!!!
Completely forgot about the DeX station which is my pre order gift.

My computing needs are very meagre these days. All I do is web browse, obline shopping , social media, watch videos, email, online banking etc so DeX is perfect for me. I have a MacBook Air and an iPad Pro but I don't have a desktop at home so for me it's perfect. When I factor that into the coast it's a very good deal indeed.

Re: Does the price bother you?

Buying Verizon through Bestbuy, my cost will be about $30 more than I paid for my Note 4. If the rumors of Verizon offering rebates even if not bought at Verizon are true, then I will be paying less than an S8+. If they don't offer the rebate, not a big deal, I pre-ordered planning on paying the BB price.

Shanghaichica

What carrier / country were you able to get the Dex doc as a pre-order goodie? Sweet!

Re: Does the price bother you?

I'm hoping to get the max discount of $425 or at the very least somewhere close to that. I read in AC forums of people getting screwed for S8 promo.

Re: Does the price bother you?

To put things into perspective, when Apple released the iPhone 7 Plus last year, one model came with dual cameras AND 256GB internal storage, and the 256GB storage model cost $969 on Verizon.

What are we getting with the Note 8? Dual cameras and only 64GB of internal memory. Sure, there's a microSD card slot. But I don't see that as a justifiable alternative, especially with the hike in price. I might cancel my preorder and wait for something better.

What are we getting with the Note 8? Dual cameras, and 6GB Ram and arguably one of the best built in Styus/pointers on the market, only 64GB of internal memory, and a larger screen with all the previous functionality of the Note 7. Sure, there's a microSD card slot. But I don't see that as a justifiable alternative, especially with the hike in price. I might cancel my preorder and wait for something better.

I don't think you were doing a true point for point comparison there. And I agree that the price is steep, but I have to consider what the Note 8 adds over the S8 to determine if the extra features are worth it in this case.

Re: Does the price bother you?

I just realized it is now the most expensive phone Verizon has, and a few other phones have had price drops.

Price bothers me, but when you want the best you pay for it.

Re: Does the price bother you?

yes freaking outrages price wise. but I have decided to get one. life's too short to ignore such experiences.
On the second viewing today the phone is just beautiful. And let's face it I am not getting any other brand anyway. I have several Samsung products. So will know soon enough about LG V30, but don't think so.

:)

Re: Does the price bother you?

My thought is hopefully in a few months you'll see the same type of discounts that you see in the S8/+. I would imagine so. IMO if you have options that let you get the phone at a discount then great.

Re: Does the price bother you?

no discount at VZW now on S8 and S8+ and they've been out for several months.
I am actually excited about the Note 8 now (once again). :)

that guy in the video doesn't make a good argument.

NOTE phones have never been for all people. Like the S series or the iPhone. The Note always been a pro grade for pro users. So most of the youtubers aren't qualified to comment like they do about more mainstream phones. meaning they would never buy a Note so who cares if they aren't excited about it.

Re: Does the price bother you?

No problem at all. I have JOD but will probably pay the balance on my s8 and keep it too. My phone is a movie theater, planner, gaming system, yellow pages, workstation, playbook on the sideline during Friday Night lights and oh yeah a device to make calls. Totally worth it.

My tmobile site has it at $930 for straight buy. I have it on Jump On Demand so mines 39/mo x 18 months with option to keep after or Jump any time to another device.

The new high end iPhone is rumored to be a lot more than the iPhone 7 Plus. Probably in this territory.

O2 in the UK. The whole of Europe are getting the DeX station as the pre-order free gift. We don't get a choice like in the states. You just get the DeX dock.

You are getting an infinity display, the s-pen, the ability to use your phone with a screen as a desktop replacement (DeX), fast wireless charging, fast charging, a 6.3 inch quad HD display, the ability to use VR (gear VR), a headphone jack, iris scanning and facial recognition.

This is in compression to the 7 plus from last year.

If we compare to the iPhone 8. That will be a lot more expensive than the note 8. It's going to start at $1,000 for the base 64GB model.

Re: Does the price bother you?

Are you getting paid by somebody to spread these anti-Note 8 videos? Why such the hard sell for people to stay away? Stop trying to tell people how to spend THEIR money. Uncool.
