Samsung you're in serious trouble if you think people will pay $1000 for a phone

Re: Does the price bother you?

So like I tell My dad when he mentions how expensive his tires are to replace in pairs for his camaro, because they're offset sizes... You've got to pay to play... If you can't afford it, or don't think it's worth your money, then don't get it and move on. Look for something that better suites your means, not just something because it's "NOT" something else. If you're getting a pricey item, be prepared to pay premium for early access/adoption, and not just financially, but logistically, physically, and over the life of the item to maintain it.

Yes, I pre-ordered the Note8. The Note7 was supposed to be my first Android, my First Samsung, and my First Note device. But because I was in a position that I needed a new phone, I settled for the S7E. I am getting the Note8 because it's what I wanted. Realistically, if before taxes and fees it was already over $1k (like $1100+) then I would have stayed with my S7E for at least another 6 months, to most likely a year. But because this is the device I've been wanting (Note) since the Note7 was announced, I made the exception to get another phone after a year. I will now be back onto my 2yr phone cycle, regardless of what features come next.

Re: Does the price bother you?

It came in lower than I expected so it's fine. No down payment on JoD so even at $39/month my exposure isn't that bad and it's only $9/month more than the S8+.

Re: Does the price bother you?

The price of Smart Phones in general used to bother me, but I've since realized that I use my phone much more than any other computing device I own. I don't mind paying for premium features on a device I'll be using all day and I expect the costs to continue to rise until the development of new features and functions plateaus. Of course the big caveat for me is the carrier financing deals available in the States. If I was paying cash out of pocket, I might think differently :)

Re: Does the price bother you?

With the Best Buy $100 off, and AT&T Next, my monthly payment went up less than $4 a month from my Note 5 and it is about the same as the Note 7 would have been. So where is the problem.

A new owner might balk at the price, but an existing Note owner doing an upgrade, there isn't much difference in price.

Re: Does the price bother you?

No. I got it for $425 off. If I was paying the full $960 on Verizon, then it would bother me.

Re: Does the price bother you?

I use my phone more than just about any other electronic device. It's my primary method for communication, social media, gaming and music. So I'm willing to spend the money on a premium device.

With that being said, if I had the S8+ I'd probably not have pre-ordered because of how close the devices are. But I do feel that the Note 8 is a worthy upgrade to my v20. I had two note 7's during the fiasco last year and am excited to go back to the platform.

Re: Does the price bother you?

Since it start a trend of super expensive phone, or continues it, it does bother me a bit, but that's not why i'm skipping on the phone.

It offer zero upgrade from the Mate 9 in my opinion, a downgrade in screen width and battery, Mate 9 lasts so long, has great big screen and screaming fast performance, Note has better cameras, better security ,SPEN,IP68 rating, wireless charging but all of those means nothing to me...

Re: Does the price bother you?

For $504 before tax, not at all. For the full $930 before tax, possibly.

Same
The only reason I am getting the Note 8 is because of the Note 7 discount ($425 off).
If it wasn't for that I don't think I would get this phone

That would seem like good reasons to get the Note 8. ;)

But honestly, the Mate 9 is a great device. But I returned because it didn't have many of those features you outlined above.

I can understand that, those are not important to me, if you need it then probably the Note 8 is the best you can get, i'm waiting for Pixel XL 2 V30 and Mate 10.

Man, I was waffling a bit on whether or not I really should get this Note, but you convinced me here. All great reasons to justify the upgrade to a Note 8.

Re: Does the price bother you?

The price is about what I expected. I currently have a S8 (smaller one) and I have never had a Note, so yes I pre-ordered the unlocked version, no carrier financing perks, but still worth it to me. My background is Nexus/Pixel (since Nexus 1) but the screens Sammy is putting out this year just blew me away. For me, I want to try the S Pen, if I don't like it then back to my S8 <-- Which I got on that trade in deal a few months back and can sell for more than I paid for it here locally. Trying new things, expensive as they may be.

Re: Does the price bother you?

It's high, sure. But to me it's totally worth it. I'm on interest free payments too with Tmobile. Preordered mine and only had to pay $24 up front (for overnight shipping and that won't be charged until the week it ships). I got to work with a demo model Note 8 yesterday and loved it

Side note on tires: I have a new Dodge Charger with 20" wheels the tires are $200 a piece. So worth it though..

Well I'm sure you know that just because a phone is expensive doesn't necessarily mean its the best or better than other phones

Re: Does the price bother you?

Not at all. I haven't owned a phone since N4. I still use it on WiFi. Anyway, I lease em through AT&T Next 24. So every year I get a Note for about 33/mo. If there ever is one I want to keep, I keep paying and own it by the time the next Note comes and I just start back at $0. If I were dropping $1k at a time, I wouldn't like it, but I still might do it. Idk... So no. The price doesn't bother me.

One Note takes the place of a few other things; namely, a camera. A calculator. A paper calendar. A pen and paper. A tablet. DVD player - we cast stuff to the TV. Other devices do that. IMO, the Note just does it better.

Re: Does the price bother you?

I'd just use the old flip Razr that we have and still works.

Are u talking about the Motorola Razr that had the touch screen music thingies on the outside when the phone was closed? If so, that was my favorite device for the longest time! I though I was POTUS with that thing. Lol!

Re: Does the price bother you?

My phone is basically my computer, and more so with the note. At $1499AU yes it's expensive but so is a crayfish (lobster) dinner!
