Sasung Galaxy S7 - odd wifi issue

I have a S7 and it has been pretty good. About 4 days ago I have been getting these internet issues at home with sever slowness. I have narrowed it down to the S7 causing the problem. When I turn on the wifi it kills my internet connection bad.
6 meg connection
netgear wndr3800
wireless connected to both 2.4 and 5 GHZ same issue on either

phone:
Model: SM-G930A
version: 6.0.1
patch level: 8/1/2016

I would insert a screen shot but it wont let me. My ping went from 23MS to over 2000MS in just a few seconds after it connected to the wifi.

Has anyone heard of this problem and know of a way to correct it?

Might be a rogue app sucking on your internet connection. Try doing a factory reset and see if that helps.

Thanks, I started with uninstalling various apps. It didn't totally solve the issue but it did drop down the drag on the internet connection by half.
I guess I will have to reset it to see what happens.

It may be due to samsung android phones version 6.0.1. Try to identify is there a known issue with this particular version of android.

Some phones are effected with the August update rolled out from end August to 1st week September, its not only wifi its also data. The network keeps dropping or so slow you cant use the internet.
Some phones have wifi problems others have data. You could reload the firmware via smart switch, if that does not help you need to send it to the service. My phone has a data/network issue while my mates has a wifi issue.

I'd start with running in safe mode first before resetting.
