Saving apps to SD doesn't really do it

So I was running out of space on my internal memory even though most of my apps are moved on the SD card. It was really weird and no matter what I did, I couldn't free any space so I decided to delete some apps from the SD card and miraculously it cleared space on the internal memory. To me, that means the apps are not stored to SD card even if it says so under the application tab in settings.

Moving an app to SD never moves the entire app there--it's only just a portion of it, and often just a small one at that. So if you uninstall an app that has been moved to SD, it will certainly free up some internal storage as well, since most of it was still on internal storage to begin with.
