Screen Overlay Detected, what can I do?

Read my post. Just following the promts won't fix it. I think it's an LG problem. After 3 of the same phone in 8mos, I finally got rid of it. Never again.

As I posted before, same issues but no filters like twilight. Well after alot of frustrating tries I was able to figure it out. It ended up being Clean Master. As soon as I uninstalled it the problem was gone. I haven't tried reinstalling it but I did install the lite version with no problems. I'll let you know what happens if I decide to try the full version again. Once I got an understanding of how overlaying works I realized that alot of apps could be the culprit (Any floating apps or apps with floating aspects) . Anyways hope this helps someone. This site has been a big help to me in the past so thanks to everyone for posting.

I have the same problem on my LG phoenix 2 and I just bought this phone and downloaded all my games and apps I needed and one of them is clean master so Im going to try what you did and I hope it works but I wanted to say thank you for giving your input because I figure clean master is giving me the problem. Hope this works, Im keeping my fingers crossed!!

This crap is annoying. Happening on my note 7 too
Do you have any type of cleaning app? Like clean master BC clean master was a problem for one person so it could be what's making yours pop up screen overlay. Uninstall some apps like cm security, clean master or any other that has to be check marked for your phone to read to clean. This could resolve your problem.

Hey everyone Thats having this problem. What I did was when it took me to the settings page where it has the apps to select yes or no like for example when it ask you to turn it off and has the option cancel or settings go to the setting like if you was going to change it and go into the top right corner where the 3....dots are and select it and it will say reset app preferences and select it and it will put all the apps back the way they were. Thats what I did and it fixed my problem of overlay screen view! All phones may be different to get into where it says reset app preferences but look for that and reset it. I hope that helped.

Re: screen Overlay Detected

I uninstalled an app called screen filter. That got rid of the overlay problem

Re: screen Overlay Detected

Picked up S7 Edge yesterday and had same problem. Unchecked all the apps under. Application Manager/more/applications that can appear on top. worked for me

Thanks a lot sir, your advice solved my long headache with this stupid alert ... much appreciated !!!

Was having the same issue on my gs6. Uninstalled my dm battery saver and cleaner, turned off all the apps in the screen overlay list (system ones included), and reset all applications back to default. It allowed me to grant one app some permissions then the error returned shortly after.

I went in and checked my display settings and realized I had my screen mode set to adaptive display for optimal coloring and changed it to basic. That seems to have done it, but it's disappointing I can't use that setting...

Having this overlay issue on my Samsung tablet and a search led me here for a possible answer.

Why in the name of all reason can't Google make this stuff work, without hiccups, BEFORE releasing it to the general public? Don't they real-life field test before deployment, or do they just rely on the end user to be the test dummy?

I actually like my Samsung Android tablet but, this is one of the many reasons why I am loath to go to Android for a new phone. Hate the UI crashing/issues and battery drain. Currently on Windows 10 Mobile for my ATIV SE.

If Verizon Wireless doesn't get a new Windows-based phone soon, I am looking at having to get an Android phone for work which I really don't want just because of these stupid issues. Our IT department will no accept Iphones, which is no big deal as I hate Apple to begin with.

Welcome to Android Central! The Screen Overlay settings can be found by going to Settings>Apps, tap the gear icon, then Draw Over Other Apps. (This is on a Nexus 6P--if you have a different phone, there might be some differences in the menu location.) By default, it should be Enabled, but each individual app can be turned on or off. Does the error message want you to enable to disable the screen overlay?
I'm having the same issue that answer should resolve but I'm using a galaxy s7 edge and I don't have the gear icon, help!!

Welcome to Android Central! Does your phone's system settings menu have a search function? If so, search for "draw over" or "screen overlay," and see if you can find the option.

I have the same problem, it is such a nigjtmare. I have tried all the solutions, but only one is consistence.
Find the way of restarting in safe mode for your particular model. In safe mode go to the app management and give all the apps appropriat permissions! You will notice in safe mode apps overlay pop up doesn't appear and freely you can assign all the permissions. This is the only viable option I found. Restart and now you are back to the old glory days until another new app ask the same thing!

Even safe mode won't stop this annoying issue her on my Oneplus one. Already turned ambient dispkayb off, disabled drawing over other apps for every app that had this enabled, have no pux adjustment apps installed, but I STILL get this error

When you see that message pop up, follow the prompt to go to settings & turn off the overlay for all apps in the list, this solved the issue for me. I don't want my apps to overlay other apps anyways so no issues there. Hope this helped.

My new s7 is doing the same thing and I can't find any option that allows me to turn off the overlay. I've even force stopped a few apps hoping that will fix it but it hasn't. I can't send or save pictures or videos on Facebook, Twitter, or Google.

I have an LG Stylo 2plus, running 6.0.1 w/newest update cpl weeks ago. I'm getting same problem with the screen overlays as everyone else. Except I don't even have Clean Master installed. So I guess that makes me S.O.L., or what? I turned developer opt on and off and back on. I have so many apps with overlays on and off. However everyone that has them turned on, if I select one to try and turn them off, when I dbl click on app the permission switch is greyed out. So anyone else have any good ideas? This is killing me. Pls, don't tell me that my only option is to go through and shut off ea. App then restart for each and every one. That will take days.

Re: screen Overlay Detected

I helped someone who had downloaded a weather app the put a little bubble on the front screen (hence the term overlay...). Removed the app, removed the problem.
