Screen turns on with a different clock

Fairly new to android but loving my S9. There's a strange thing that happens occasionally where I take the phone out of my pocket and there's a plain white digital clock showing on the lock/sleep screen. There's a white arrow at the bottom right of the screen (pointing to the left) and when I click on that I see my usual lock screen. I don't have AOD enabled. It's not a problem as such - just curious how/why it happens...any annoyingly I can't 'make' it happen

I noticed that after the recent update. Can't find the setting for it yet.

I turned this off.
