SD card problem

I had an issue with the SD card. The symptom was that the Music player wouldn't recognize the mp3 files. I dismounted the card to read it on my PC, it looked fine. I then tried remounting it in the phone and the indications were it was blank. I power cycled the phone and all seems well. But I'm left wondering what happened to cause the music player to stop recognizing the files. Any thoughts?

As it worked after you restarted it I would asume that there was some problem with the cache. But the only thing which would tell you something more precise would be reading the log(if this even registered as an error) :)

I appreciate your comments on this problem. I'll have to go digging for the logs, I have not done this yet.

I think you are correct, but something else might be involved. I had power cycled the phone before removing the SD card and it had no affect on the problem. It seems clearing the problem somehow involved both dismounting the filesystem and power cycling to remount it. In the first case I would have expected some caches to have been cleared by power cycling, but maybe others are not.

Thanks,

What is the name of the folder to which you are copying the music? Android supposedly looks for music in folders with specific names, like "Music."

Thanks for responding. The problem wasn't the location of the files, and it's fixed now. I unmounted the card and power cycled the phone.
