My friend has a Galaxy S8 on Sprint. On her Facebook Messenger app you can tap the info button in the top right corner of a conversation and in the list of options it says search conversation.

Mine doesn't have that option. I've checked and we both have the same version from the play store. It was that way on my S8 plus and now the same on my S9 Plus. I'm with Verizon.

I'll post screenshots when I get a chance.

I have the option to search in a conversation (app version 171.0.0.28.108). Sometimes features take some time to show up in Messenger, especially after recent updates or clearing app cache/data. Also, try updating the app in Google Play or joining the beta (search for Messenger in Google Play, tap it, and scroll to the bottom - there should be an "I'm in" option to join the beta) and then update it again.

I rarely encountered any bugs on the beta. There are occasional glitches, but they disappear after closing and reopening the app or after a restart. If it becomes unusable on your phone, you can simply leave the beta program and you'll receive an update to a stable version.
