Search in GIF keyboard?

Am I missing something, or does the built-in GIF keyboard lack a search function?

I love the fact that Samsung included a native GIF keyboard and stickers (they are ugly though :D ), but it seems that the GIF keyboard only has certain pre-selected emotions along the bottom for you to choose from. I need a search function!

Ok I switched to SwiftKey, but I think the functionality may be the same when it comes to search. When I click on the Gif button, after a second, a small box shows up that says Search and has a magnifying glass in it. If you click it, you can search. It will disappear if it isn't used though. I am not sure if that was a SwiftKey thing, but I think it may be a Samsung thing.

You can search for GIFs with the stock keyboard. Hit that icon in the text field.

Hi! When I hit that icon, I only see stickers and no search box for those either. I can access limited gifs in the keyboard toolbar. I'm going crazy trying to figure out what I'm missing. Using Samsung S9 InkedScreenshot_20180325-104808_Messages_LI.jpg

You can access gifs and search them if you press emoji smiley face to the left instead of just pressing gif from keyboard. I was going crazy trying to find this but I'm happy I have now solved the problem.
This seems to only work on WhatsApp and messenger but not on sms

I have the s9 and I have tried all the ways to get the search for my gif. (hitting the smiley square emoji on the text spot) and there is no search option. do I need to send my phone away

I don't believe there is a search option anymore
It's still there. I have it on mine. Maybe go into the messaging app, then to settings, then to About and see if you have an update to the app.

Or try logging into the Galaxy Apps store and see if you you got any pending updates to any Samsung apps.

The version I'm on is 5.0.00.137

My phone OS just updated and it's gone. Instead there is now a row at the bottom with categories. None of which is Dr. Evil.

Can confirm this issue is present with my Galaxy S7. Here are pictures of this problem when I am using FB Messenger. The second picture is what I see after I press the "gif" button in the first picture.

Here's how its done in the Galaxy 9s,
First, when in whatpsapp, in the same space for typing, on your left appears an icon of a emoji (tap it) (on messenger you have to follow only this step [the icon of the face (emoji) is on your right), if the app is updated it's done automatically)

Second, on the bottom of the screen you will find two icons one is for emojis and the second for gifs (tap Gifs)

Third, the icon of a magnifier glass its on your left, tap it to use the keyboard to search the wanted gift AND THAS ALL

For SMS its a little bit more dificult, i couldn't do it in the app of sms, so what i did was that Messenger gives you the option to use messenger also as your default message app so you could view, send or reply your texts in the messenger app, do that and you will be able to answer with gifs, stickers and others.

This is all I have, no search function.
