Security Update: February 2016 Rolling Out for Moto X Pure Edition

Re: Feb 2016 Security Update Rolling Out [Moto X Pure Edition]

What is it patching? Anyone have a list or change log? I don't take anything on trust. I want information first.

Re: Feb 2016 Security Update Rolling Out [Moto X Pure Edition]

In my case, I got a new (to me) Icon in the Notification bar, opened that and the message included a link to read the Change log before downloading/installing the Update ... the *only* thing in the change log was the Security update.

Standard warning that it would take approx 10 minutes, use WiFi,have 50% battery, the time est was true for the DL/Install, but after the re-boot it went through a longer time than that to 'Optimize' my apps.

Power cycles off/on since this update have *not* included Optimizing, but I don't do that while charging after the earlier Marshmallow update seemed to include it.

Re: Feb 2016 Security Update Rolling Out [Moto X Pure Edition]

The only difference in the build number is the -3 at the end. I would have thought it would have been way different. Maybe since it's not even an incremental update there isn't anything else to add besides the security update. My guess is that 3 represents the number of months since the last security update the Pure Edition had.

3 months sounds probable.

With the November 2015 Security Update, I'm on System version 24.11.18.clark_retus.retus.en.US, Build number MPH24.49-18. Looks like System version gets updated too.

Kernel is updated as well.

I really don't see why wouldn't they do it more often, since it's "pure edition". If HTC and BlackBerry can, there is no excuse to lag this much.

There's also a 'S' stuck in there for security maybe?
Also, why isn't this 6.0.1? For such a small android update from 6.0 I figured they'd throw in some emojis for us

There are a lot of reports of LTE problems on the Nexus' with 6.0.1. Moto may be holding it back until it's fixed or just wait for 6.0.2 or 6.1 rolls out.

That's probably a larger test effort.

The update was just pushed to me.

It's a 6.5MB update that requires you to be on Wi-Fi to take download the OTA.

Updated security to January 2016? Sounds like we're still behind

While the release notes say "Includes the updates of Android monthly security bulletin until January 2016.", like the screenshots in this thread, the Android security patch level is listed as February 1, 2016.

My guess is that "Includes the updates of Android monthly security bulletin until January 2016." means ""Includes the updates of Android monthly security bulletin through January 2016."

Got it. Took a total of about 20 minutes for the phone to be usable again. Then had several apps update.
