Seems like more folks are "meh" for Pixel 4 than excited?

Where does the Pixel 2 fit into your formula?
I sold the 2XL when I bought the 3XL. Resale value on the 2XL at the time was decent.

Good, I always worried about the Pixel 2s.

I think the 2 XL is still a decent device. I traded my 2 XL in on my Note 10 + back in August. The Note 10 + hasn't worked out for me. I am going for the Pixel 4 XL 128 GB. If for some reason that doesn't work it's going back and I will pickup a used Pixel 2 XL and see what next year brings.

What do you need them to do?

People be real the 3a/XL variant is also a culprit of the response to P4/XL...if anything Google is trying to have P4/XL target techies then theyll release a 4a/XL variant like last time. I sold my Pixel 3 for as much as i could get once the 3a was out and getting glaring reviews.

What do you need them to do?

The main thing is that I need the device to work properly with my carrier (Mint Mobile) which the Note 10 + does not. I need it to take decent photos, have reliable wifi calling, have reliable texting, do Android Auto, YouTube, Duo, etc. I have been struggling with the wifi calling and have been having texting problems ever since switching to the Note 10 +.

I came from a Pixel 2 XL, before that an OG Pixel XL, and before that I had a Nexus 6. I didn't go for the 3 XL because of that huge notch. I do a lot of reading and consume a lot of media on my device. I also had a Nexus 5 somewhere in there too. The Google devices have always just worked for me and never missed a beat. I'm looking forward to the 24th so I can hopefully get back to that experience.

Well Mint only supports certain phones. That's a carrier issue not a phone issue.

I am assuming you mean for things like wifi calling and VoLTE? The Note 10 + is an unlocked device and GSM it's also supported by Mint. They even sell the Note 10 on their site. Putting my wifi calling issue aside....texting is a basic function. I should not be having problems with texting on the device.

They did confirm they don't support wifi calling which is fine. I don't want to get into a debate about it here...but I will admit I made a mistake picking up the Note 10 +. I made a mistake getting the device when wifi calling is so important to me and the second mistake I made was missing the 15 day window for returning the device.

I have been spoiled by pretty much flawless operating Pixel devices. I honestly wish I wouldn't have traded my Pixel 2 XL for it because I could have just gone back to that and played wait and see on the newer devices. It has been a learning experience for sure....an expensive one.

Again that's a carrier compatibility issue not a phone issue. Anyway that was already identified by you in multiple threads and other support forums. I don't want to rehash it here because we are taking the thread off topic.

I was answering your question and your reply. I already said I don't want to debate the issue here for the very reason you cited above. I am confident the Pixel 4 will be a better fit for me.

Yeah I'll hold off on the Pixel 4, hopefully they'll offer a $300 off deal sooner than normal if sales tank. I'll also wait to see what a Pixel 4a will offer.

I was really looking forward to it. I have the 11 Pro Max but I have always had an Android phone. Just move the sim in and out. I bought the Pixel 3 XL last year after Black Friday. But ultimately the battery life did me in. Really do not want to carry a power bank with me. All set to do a pre order on the Pixel 4 but it seems history repeats itself with Google. Really like a lot of the features on the Pixel 4, but turning off key features to extend battery life makes no sense to me. At this price point putting that size battery in was a bad decision. Have to stick with Samsung for now.

Big surprise, reviews are calling out the poor battery life, something we all knew Google made a mistake on. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the math doesn't add up with such a smaller battery size.

This will be Google's "RAM issue" this year, as I predicted. Once again, Google thinks they can skimp out on hardware because hardware isn't important enough.
The ram issue Google could kind of mitigate with updates, but they can't make the battery bigger.

They really need to get rid of Rick Osterloh. If he's the one driving the decisions of the Pixel, he must be an Apple or Samsung spy, deliberately trying to sabotage the Pixel phones.

No way they thought small battery + battery hungry screen = good battery life. And if they did, then the Pixel team are dumber than I thought.

I do not know if Mint is similar to AT&T but they support WiFi calling with Apple, wherever you get the iPhone. On Android you can only get Wifi calling if you purchase the phone from AT&T. Usually buy my Samsung phone directly through them on release and always lose wifi calling because of that. Maybe Mint is similar, you have to purchase phone through them.

I agree 100%! He has also alienated the American Home Builders from using Nest products. Shareholders must be pi$$ed.

The Pixel 3a's were developed by the "Taiwan Team" (HTC) and appear to be doing well.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nexus 5 LOVED it, actually traded it back in day with my at time Lumia 920 (loved WP until 8.1). Tried some other androids got a Nexus 6P, was incredible until 14 months later bad updates and device issues made phone paper weight. Got an iPhone 7+, used it for 2 years and loved it but good deals (free pixel stand) got my Pixel 3 last year. While good, i missed iOS and sold it couple months ago picked up clearance iPhone X.

In terms of Android, Nexus/Pixel have been the best experience on this OS. Ive used all kind of LG's (meh, great camera thats it), Samsungs (hated UI, slowdown over time always) and Moto's (amazing budget, bad cameras)...nothing was ever as good as a stock Android device. In terms of Android Pixel 3 was fantastic, except for the Ram issues (scrolling youtube was dreadful). Battery was fine, my X and 7+ were both better but it was never an issue im not a hardcore user (2-2.5 hours SoT daily).

I could never intentionally carry around two phones, i do have a work phone that i only carry while i work otherwise in my bag. Its also an iphone (8), primarily bc Outlook for out systems just works much better. But if i were to carry or have an Android, it would always be a Pixel or something as close to stock.

Man i miss Google Assistant...Siri is just horrible.
