Seems like more folks are "meh" for Pixel 4 than excited?

I don't think it's an exciting upgrade if someone is coming from a Pixel 3, but I've never thought yearly upgrades were very exciting. I'm coming from a 2 XL, though, and I can't wait to get my orange 4 XL later this week.

Re: Seems like more folks are "meh" for Pixel 4 than excited?

The masses walk into carrier stores to upgrade their Samsung to newer Samsung or Apple to newer Apple. If Google have priced their pixel 4 less than apple or Samsung, you might have a chance. But when pixel 4 is $100 more than Apple iPhone 11, it's game over friends. Who in their right mind (not us techies), would say no to iphone 11 that is $100 less?
I would say no to the iPhone regardless of price. There was a time I would of said no to the Samsung even though I didn't know as much about phones. I think the average person can easily be steered to what ever the salesman says but your point is well founded.

I can not move past this FaceID fiasco, coupled with the removal of the unlimited storage. The teeny tiny battery was bad enough. The fingerprint scanner removal, I could have survived, but the thought of an app quickly capturing your FaceID, as fast as the chip is, is just plain bad.

Google dropped a huge stinking pile of fail in the bed, and this is coming from a Google diehard. I go back to the original Nexus program. I skipped the three due to that ugly notch trying it's best to copy Apple.

The phone doubles down on the stupid.

Hahaha. Head scratcher what google is doing.

I just feel like Google really didn't care enough this year compared to the competition. Every major competitor offers a three camera system while Google admitted that the ultrawide can be fun but they feel the telephoto is more important. What? Last year they tried to prove they could do telephoto just as well with one lens which if that was truly the case they could've stuck with "super res zoom" using the main camera and included an ultrawide and you still have all your bases covered. Also no 4k60 still? Even Huawei finally managed to get over that hump this year. But outside of the camera, I believe a combination of small batteries, high refresh rate screens, a Max of 128gb of storage and only one source of biometric unlocking is just kind of head scratching to me. I guarantee you apologists will make excuses for all these shortcomings just like they do every year with Pixel devices but if the same hardware had an LG or Moto logo slapped on it, it would not receive the same pass.

I don’t know, too much hyperbole here. There’s no “FaceID fiasco” for one. I don’t care at all about the eyes, and for those who do, I’m sure Google will patch it in a month. That’s a big pile of nothing IMO.

I want to see what users have to say with it in their hands, though I was disappointed in several aspects they announced.

Looks like in in couple months they will use eye detection.

Figured as much. This is not a big deal at all IMO.
Im not worried about it , I think pixel 4 is best looking of all pixel phones to this date and like what it offers , little disappointed in the base storage and no more free storage orginal for photos but battery going be ok looks like ,will purchase one shortly down the road ,I like the pixel experience .

I don't see a lot of apologists in here. I do see some people still willing to buy it despite some of its perceived and actual shortcomings. I use the word perceived because not every feature commonly mentioned is important to everyone. For me it's always the total package and neither Pixel does it for me. I'm not going to go into the weeds on this one but just too many things missing for my taste. I'm using a Note 10+ and an S10+. Samsung is something that never appealed to me but once they ditched TouchWiz and I checked it out I went for the S10. The only reason I got the Note 10 is because they were offering 600 trade in for last year's Pixels and 200 dollars in Samsung credit. I bring that up because when I hear what Google is offering in trades is a travesty. The Samsung camera is pretty damn good and it's video/audio capabilities crush the Pixel.

Yeah I didn't think it was a big deal either but when I mentioned it in as such in another thread you would have thought Google gave away the nuclear codes based on the response I got.,,,

If they gave same trade in as Samsung you be all over this phone ..

No.... I still have to like something to make a move. Buts let's imagine I did jump on it if they gave me 600 plus 200 in accessories. I would trade the 3XL then sell the 4 to make a profit on the 3.

Big surprise, reviews are calling out the poor battery life, something we all knew Google made a mistake on. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the math doesn't add up with such a smaller battery size.

This will be Google's "RAM issue" this year, as I predicted. Once again, Google thinks they can skimp out on hardware because hardware isn't important enough.

Where does the Pixel 2 fit into your formula?
