Seidio Desktop Charging Cradles (Now Available!)

I just received the cradle. It's nice, but it does not change the phones mode at all. The device stays vertical on screen which is a let down. But still, better than plugging it in, I guess. I'll buy the HTC branded one if it ever comes out, though.

Yeah, but I use launcher pro on my Bolt, because its much more customizable than Sense.

Are there any drawbacks to using Launcher Pro? My friend said his original Droid's battery life was drained at a faster rate and it made the phone a bit sluggish. But than again, that's the Droid and not the Thunderbolt. I would like as much feedback as possible before I buy the full version. I tried the trial and it does allow my phone to enter landscape mode which is a plus.

I just wish HTC would update their phone to do it and even if it doesn't, release a dock that does do it. I'm perfectly fine with the Seidio dock but I wish I didn't have to jump through hoops to get it perfect.

Will try and get some for you tomorrow. The dock is really nicely made and it's got a bit of weight to it, which is nice. It also has a slip resistant and soft coating. I'm using it with the Seidio Active case also. As others have noted, it does not change the display orientation or anything, though I never expected it to since there is nothing in the stock phone software to make it do that. One of the things I miss most about my BB is the bedside mode! I mostly just use the clock function anyway and that does go into landscape mode...I just wish it were automatic. Anyway, hopefully we will eventually have that ability from HTC.

It doesn't go into landscape mode on it's own. There's two ways around this that I've used (I'm sure there are other ways, but these are what I've done)...

1) I would manually go into Car Mode and then hit the clock (royal pain).

2) I'm running das BAMF 1.7 now and I just flashed the Rosie Landscape patch...now my TB turns landscape anytime it's on it's side. Plus if you go into the Development option and click the "never turn off screen when charging" option, everything is set up as I want/need it by just putting the TB in the cradle...very cool. Plus my Live wallpaper is a fishtank, so it's kinda cool to watch fish swimming back and forth while I work.

So no I'm very happy with it.

To get it to go into a clock mode, you could use Tasker. You could configure Tasker to launch a clock app when the phone is connected to an AC power source. It knows the difference between an AC charger and USB, so you can have it only launch the clock app when in the dock (or any other AC or car charger)

The HTC clock remains in portrait, but other clock apps on the market do not.

I purchased the VZW hard case/holster combo when I bought the phone. Does anybody know if this case will work with the desktop dock? I read the "not guarnteed to be compatible with other manufacturers' products" disclaimer and hope somebody has with the VZW case has tried it.

I'm also curious about my gel case fitting it. Also does anyone think the phone is snug enough in the charger that if I secured the charging dock to the dash of my car the phone would stay in it while I'm driving? I have a flat dash and I don't live in a bumpy place. I would like to use it instead of a car doc so that I can use my existing case.

Thanks for the pics! That looks like Gentle Alarm, which I used on my Droid. I am also using Launcher Pro. With those two, can I configure it to go into that night-clock mode upon going into the dock?

My OG Droid dock had some sort of magnet magic that would put it into clock mode and landscape the minute I put it on the dock. That was nice.
