So, I'm selling my Droid X on craigslist. I advertised it as rooted. I have Apex ROM loaded. Currently, I've gone into CWR and done a wipe of factory, cache and dalvic cache. When powered on, it's at the out of the box screen for signing in with your gmail account so that's good. Is that sufficient or should I sbf back to Gingerbread OTA?

I would advertise it as rooted and running a custom ROM with the option to set it back to stock if the buyer chooses so. Some people struggle with how to root a phone and may be looking to buy one already rooted for them.

Best of both worlds.... advertise it as rooted and as stock... buyer decides.

Thanks! If they want it rooted, doing the 3 wipes in CWR should be sufficient to remove all of my info right?

Yea that's good... even a factory reset from the phones settings would be fine... doesn't matter, both will wipe the system. Make sure you don't forget to wipe out the SD Card as well.

Thanks CW! I probably will be getting them another SD card because I don't wanna transfer stuff off.

Last question...since I like to meet buyers at Verizon to have the device checked do you recommend unrooting?

I doubt that they would even realize that its rooted but having a ApeX on it could be a problem. I mean as long as the buyer understands that the warranty would be voided on it... then it doesn't matter. The phone is probably past the 1 year manufacturer coverage anyways... how long have you had the phone? (I'm not even sure if that's something that even transfers over onto a used phone. I think its only covered for the original buyer of the phone. Maybe someone else knows better on that one).

Other then that... I wouldn't worry about it being rooted... or with ApeX on it (as long as the buyer understands there's no warranty... that's even if Verizon notes the account) Most employees wouldn't even care. Depends who you go to though. Its not like they're going to arrest you or anything... the worse that could happen is they put a note on the account that the phone has been tampered with and the warranty is voided. They'll still activate the phone to his/her account.

I'm just gonna sbf back because I mentioned stock because i mentioned root and it confused the guy.

Yea... I was just thinking there would be less confusion if you just sold it stock. That phone is easy enough to root anyways.
