Sense 5 is now my favorite UI, over Stock Android as well

I've been using the HTC One now for about a week and am loving Sense 5. It has a stock feel to it but the skin is more attractive to me. Such a clean stylish look to it. Am really hoping for fast updates as well since Sense 5 isn't bloated as previous version.

Anyone else prefer another UI to stock?

I'm right there with you on this one. I've always liked Sense but this time it's even better since they decided to minimize Sense.

Exactly, and I didn't like previous versions of Sense at all. HTC did an amazing job with the HTC One.

The only thing I can think of that Sense doesn't offer me on the One that I'd really like is the ability to change the icons for Apps. Have considered going to a launcher for just that reason.

+1
Not knowing pure Jelly Bean I'm finding Sense 5 to be a beautiful UI that makes even my iOS diehards do double takes.

Coming from pure Jelly Bean I love Sense 5. It's just the right amount of skinning and added features for me, I'm loving the clean and minimalist aesthetic.

Really like it too! One thing I really wish I had more control over is icon density on the homescreen. That and I'd reallllly like to get rid if this stupid persistent Power Saver notification...

Long Press it, click App Info, Force Stop. Repeat after any reboot or if your phone goes into Power Save mode.

Try Elixir. You can create Icon bars with up to 7 icons in a 1x4 space. It also has tools to view system info and configure toggle widgets if you want.

Love the minimalistic look of Sense 5! I have a bunch of Nexus 4.2 devices and I think Sense measures up very nicely and surpasses it in look and feel.

I gotta say that I am pleasantly surprised with Sense 5. In the beginning, Sense was great and was ahead of it's time because stock sucked and touchwiz, although I am not a huge fan was even worst. Sense really got boring over the last year but now it is a lot better. Seems to be leaner and the stock Sense apps are still better than vanilla Android and touchwiz and I was definitely glad about that because I don't always like looking for stock replacement and have I haven't had to replace much so far. I could do with HTC wanting facebook to show up everywhere on my device though. But other than that, I'm pleased with it.

You can change grid size by going to the three button menu above the apps.

That changes grid density in the app drawer, not on the homescreen.

Coming from pure Android on an Nexus 4, I too am really impressed with Sense 5. It "feels" like something that's meant to be there, not something tacked on like Touchwiz. I think of pure Android as the ultimate in Minimalism. No bells and whistles, very bare bones, but very well done. I think of Sense 5 as Modern. An evolution of pure Android. Not tacky, not intrusive.

As much as I wish it did that just doesn't work. It's baked into the OS so it starts running again in no time.

I don't understand the obsession with this. Why does it matter? It is a nice feature to have it quickly available. It takes on line in the notification shade. Why does it **** people off?

And I haven't noticed it coming back on except on reboot or if below 15% battery.

It's the principle. I don't mind it being there by default, but we should be able to turn the persistent notification off.

I picked up my One yesterday, and have already installed Nova and Holo Locker to get more of the stock feel. Of course, I came from CM10 on a GSII, so anything Sense is going to seem cluttered to me.

For my tastes, Jelly Bean is such a simply yet beautiful and uncluttered OS. Throw in some of the CM goodies and customizations, and it is just about perfect. When CM10.1 (or 10.2 more likely) gets stable on the One, I'll be flashing to that. Then, the only thing that will be missing is the damn missing menu button and those freakin' black bars it forces at the bottom of apps.

Until Sense 5, stock Android had been my favorite Android UI. I'm actually a big fan of Windows Phones "UI formerly known as Metro" and Windows phone in general, and I fell like Sense 5 brings some of that very flat, blocky UI to Android and it is now my favorite Android UI.
