Serious sound issues through LG G3 headphone jack/AUX!

G3 has smart resistance that can have bad data. Clear cache and problem goes away. settings - general tab - storage - let finish calculating and tap on "cache". Problem fixed!

How does clearing the cache help solve a issue with the aux jack???

You're confusing me.

I was thinking the same, hence my question above.
I suggested in an earlier post on this thread that the issue appears to be hardware related and possibly a defect (but got slammed for using the term "defective", not really sure why). Still think that's the case but I am whispering it now.......

Further update from me;

I've now visited Carphone Warehouse twice, as the first time I went in I couldn't have received less help. (also emailed LG who want to fix it)

My 2nd visit to CW was much better. I was served by the guy who sold me the phone and he went out of his way to attempt to replace my device (system wouldn't let him), then spoke with several engineers at the CW repair centre over the phone. They have said they are well aware of this problem, and that it is caused by the NFC capabilities, and they have made LG aware and therefore the issue should be fixed in LG's next update (not sure last nights update was an LG one, but certainly didn't fix the issue). Failing that, my only other option is to send the device away to fixed/replaced under warranty, but that would leave me without a phone for up to 2 weeks.

The guy did say that a workaround would be to buy bluetooth receivers to plug into my car/home stereos, and that should cut out the issue, so will give that a try (would be great to lose the cables, too!)

What really ****** me off though was that CW's 'Geek Squad' cover offers no help with this. Not even a courtesy phone (at £15 a month it's the least I'd expect).

I think I've figured something out. I also use the auxiliary port to listen to music in my car and have random drops but I don't have them on my rear buds. While looking at the actual plugs, I noticed that the car cable has colored 2 rings on the Jack and the ear buds have 3. So I plug in some other speakers that I have that has 2 rings and surely plug it into the auxiliary port on the phone. I can see the audio notifications change on the phone. I did the exact same thing with my ear buds and nothing happened. I am thinking that 2 colored ring cords are what is causing the problems. Is a theory.

Here is a pic of the auxiliary cords.

I'm having this issue....playing through my stereo and it does not work at all.

Not happy

So I've been having all these issues and I found out it's the stock music All that had been causing the problem, I already had the full power amp app on my g2 so I switched to that and all problems went away and I disabled my stock music app to keep it from being used

Hmm but I don't even use the stock music app and I never have.......I use Google music.

Maybe I should disable the stock music app just in case.

I'd noticed this too -assumed the 3rd ring was for the microphone (as I only have earphones with mic's on them) so hadn't mentioned it. Presume this is where the issue stems from though.

I just had the worst problem with a pair of Bose Quietcomfort 15. If you take the jack out of the headphones there is a switch for hi and low, if you use low all is good, if you use hi it thinks you're plugged into a stereo.

I picked up my first g3 on Sept 4. Had to get a new phone because my stock m7 bricked itself 20 days outside of the 1 year warranty period. I was looking at the g3 anyways since it was released and decided to just get it, not too many options right now either.

To my dismay, the first thing I notice a day after I get it is that I can't connect the phone to the auxiliary in my car. I would plug the cord into the aux port of my 2014 jeep patriot first and it would be on the aux channel. Then I would plug the other end into the phone and the little aux symbol would pop up and disappear a second later.

I found this thread and I came to the conclusion that it is probably a software issue because it is intermittent. At times I could get it to work, however. If I opened my rdio app for instance and then connected the cord into the phone first and then into the aux port in my car, and immediately starting the music, it would start playing. However, even if I started playing the music and then I hit pause, it would disconnect again.

Another thing I notices is that the phone seemed to get confused as to what you plug in at times. There are three different icons that show up at the top. There are headphones with a mic attachment, regular headphones, as well as the aux symbol. Sometimes it shows the wrong symbol depending on what you have plugged in. I would plug in the phone and it would quickly switch between the headphone and aux symbol as if it couldn't choose what one it wanted to display. I really don't understand why LG went through all of the trouble to let you know what you plugged in, all you need is one symbol.

Anyways, despite my better instinct that it was a problem that probably persists in 90 percent of the phones, I went to att yesterday and got a new phone. Went out to the car right after I traded my other one in with all of my [removed by moderator] on it and the problem was even worse. I pretty much can't connect at all with this phone. At least with the other one I was able to fanagle a way to make it work. I notice if you put the cord in the phone first, place the other on your lips, and then quickly plug it into the car aux, you can "catch" a connection.

Either way, I went out and bought a auxiliary Bluetooth adapter by blueflame got it for 13 dollars on clearance at target and it works extremely well both audio quality and ease of connection. The adapter is no bigger than a pack of matches and plugs right into the aux port.

Needless to say, I believe this is something we are gonna need to ride out over time. It doesn't matter what phone you get, all of them have the same problem. It is a great phone besides the aux problem even though it is quite ridiculous that in 2014 a smartphone can do absolutely everything under the Sun and I can't plug a cheap, antiquated component into my car and play music.

If you guys are interested in the Bluetooth adapters until LG addresses this, mpow sells this adapter on Amazon for like 17 dollars. The blueflame one k got they stopped making the model I got which is a shame. It is micro sub chargeable, gets 6 hours of playback (you can just charge it while you are using it) and the 3.5m Jack folds into the device. It works great and I got it for more than half off.

The new one blueflame offers is 40 dollars and it has a tiny cord that connects to the dongle, meaning it's gonna swing around in your aux Jack of your car, which is kinda a deal breaker. Mine does not hang, it is a solid foldable connector.

Anyone heard anything more about this? I've been following this for awhile, and this is the single thing that is keeping me away from this phone.

New update just came out (for tmo anyway), and the issue was fixed. Can't speak for other carriers.

Any release notes for that update?

Can't recall. It was posted on the main page, but I don't remember seeing any release notes. I believe it was the same update released on the European carriers earlier in the summer. I believe the main update was supposed to be some screen brightness fixes. I just know the main fix for me was the aux issues. There's another thread in here with folks talking about the update.

The issues I have had are: it plays the tunes ok but if there's any jiggly at all then it will jump and start playing a different tune. This jiggling could be because the passenger bumped the cord or I hit a bump in the road or maybe first no reason at all.

It is much worse with other players! I have tried several, But the only 'sorta' stable player is the one on the unit.

I bought a high quality rca/rca cable ( I think the brand is Griffiths. It was about $15 at Wal-Mart.) and it really helps to make it so both right & left sides work, but it still jumps between tunes easily.

From the suggestions here I am going to try plugging in the charging cord and see if that helps.

The issue I'm having, and I'll go ahead and admit I didnt read all 76 previous posts (I'm at work, with headphones on) but it sounds like wind whistling while at idle. If anyone had an older car, and they had to have the resistor put in because you could hear the engine whine through the radio, that's what its like.

And only in the left channel? Is it really related to engine RPM? Only when engine is on?
As I said in my original post, there's some "garbage noise" in the left channel you can hear when everything is on but there's no music playing. If you turn up the volume you can hear it in the left channel. Monkey around with the screen display and you'll hear how the noises are related to the screen/scrolling activity.
This is not true for headphones/earbuds; only when AUX hookup to a stereo in car or at home.

Have you tried recently? I had the same issue (why I found this thread), but just tried it and now both work. There is still the two different icons for the different settings, UT the high now works (there has been an update in the meantime)

Anyone with an AT&T G3 able to chime in if this issue has been fixed? This is the only thing still keeping me from the G3.
